      It doesn't say and having read the entire advert right now, I was reaching for the sick bucket!

        I know plenty of those younger ones who are still getting contracts without long breaks but they tend to be in non-IT dev roles. Once you hit early 50s, it seems to get that much harder. There's no getting around it.
        Ealy-50's also finding it incredibly difficult - couple of years until Private Pension kicks in !!

          Offshore rates.

          A.I is really hitting lower to mid level development roles.

          Youll need to be a Python expert with an MBA or C++ with a PhD and nothing below it if this keeps up.

            So you think pilots are flying commercial aeroplanes these days? Think again. Most of the flight, including navigation, responding to ATC and landing are all automatic. The pilots are there in case...

            As for the tube, Singapore has a complex underground with no drivers. The trains even check themselves in for maintenance and repairs.

              I am 55 and still in a contract. Don't think age is a barrier for contracting but permie it definetely is. I know there is no way I will get a permie job now. Got 10-12 years left till retirement. Which is mainly cos of a divorce and still have a mortgage to pay. Otherwise I would be out of this game now.

                  Someone once told me, never, ever get a divorce. It's deverstating, both emotionally and financially.

                    Yeah, just put up with it and buy her some flowers - its cheaper than the alternative!

                      Gotta say - I am seeing the opposite. I have 2 catchall searches on jobserve subscribed to through their RSS feeds, one for "inside" and one for "outside" and whilst not a perfect filter for IR35 status, it does seem to do a pretty good job. I currently see at least 2x as many outside as inside.

                      === Edit:

                      Just checking my RSS feeds now, for May I have 702 outside, 122 inside.
