Put simply, the UK is importing people at a cost to tax payers for the benefit of business alone. I sometimes wonder if the there's any kind of basic understanding of numbers by whoever comes up with these quotas. About six months ago I didn't believe Labour was a nailed on certainty, but with the latest net immigration figures I suspect Starmer could be caught round the back end of a sheep and still romp home.
As I have said I am a card carrying member of the Labour Party who sees the benefit of managed immigration and campaigned for Remain but a lot of people who voted to leave the EU did so (possibly amongst other) to reduce immigration.

They might not rush out and vote Labour but they might very well stay at home or even vote for Reclaim, which might cost the Conservatives a marginal or two.

Coincidentally, the new threshold to be announced by the panicked Tories in Cleverley's statement to the HoC later today.

I assume you mean Reform. Reclaim is a Laurence Fox, conspiracy theorist sideshow.

Think it’s actually set to be £35,000.

what it should be is at a suitable premium to the Uk market rate (minimum 25% above) to encourage the training of UK workers
merely at clientco for the entertainment

Depends which leaked report you trust. Guardian saying £38k.

( Agree, btw, should be relatively higher, except for "genuinely" shortage occupations. Many occupations are "shortage" merely because the pay is crap, and the pay is crap because... )

Tbh, there are so many of them that are similarly named, I'm not sure many voters will be paying attention.

Most people, with a sensible head on their shoulders, aren't too worried by immigration per se provided there are sound reasons for doing so and within set boundaries. Say, educated grafters who at least attempt to 'fit in'. It's just the fact, over the last 20 years, the best part of 10 million people turned up with limited Government planning/understanding of how this would work out. Hence telephone number house prices and very strained public services.

I don't think that's true at all. You can't say they aren't worried with a proviso that just isn't working. Anyone with a hole in their bum should be very worried with what we've got in place currently, even considering todays announcement.
