Umbrella Company - Unified Payroll Limited - appoints liquidator...

Just as an FYI to any contractors out there, it seems that following the cyber attacks a few weeks back Unified Payroll appointed a provisional liquidator on 28th October.

I was just checking companies house and I'm no longer 100% sure it's a hacking issue - their accounts should have been filled by September 30th and they weren't.

Given that is before Giant was hacked I'm tempted to think there is more to the story (and that it's a different story) to the one we've been led to believe.

It will be interesting to see what the administrator finds out.

And looking at the actual liquidation - it's been done at the request of HMRC so this is definitely not a hacking story - it's one of not paying their tax bills.

Still, we have to work through umbrellas, as "It's only fair....."

And it appears they might not be the only part of that business empire with overdue accounts...

              Oh jeez… https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3913408

I only hope that there isn’t a Winding Up Order associated with this.

Worse, you can currently only work using the umbrella an agency allows you to use - and that shouldn’t be the case because it creates situations like this

                  Big time.

The changes by The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 (Coronavirus) (Amendment of Schedule 10) Regulations 2021 means that they owe at least £10,000 to HMRC (it used to be £750).

Oh it’s more that that - the witnesses include a Mr Andrew Siddle of HMRC which means I know exactly what is going on here but can’t say at the moment.

shall we just say that I suspect we are going to see if Professional Passport’s indemnity insurance is a lot better than I think it is.
