Cojak, someone has hacked TM's account. I almost understood that post and not a single expletive. Hacker doesn't know him very well it seems. Insta ban please.

I use a linux low latency kernel with Ardour and Audacity mainly. no more VST issues than on windoze, and all open source.
      I have a behringer UMC404 usb sound card/mixer.
if anything, linux recognises stuff and has drivers built in much more so than windoze and that other lockin merchant.
It's not seamless, Linux expects you to know more sysadmin than windaes, but it's all free (apart from voluntary contributions, if you feel generous).
As good as ProTools IMHO, and without the constraints of the Apple universe.

I use Reaper now (not cause I'm a tight bastard). I had some dongle problems with Protools a few years back and Avid were a nightmare to deal with. Reaper is an easy swap from PT. There's a linux version on the Cockos website. Might try it to prolong the life of my DAW machine.

Audaciy ? Behringer ? Are you a tight bastard ????

Audacity's great for quick 'n' dirty basic stuff, and behringer does ok for me.
I use what works without forking out for posh sh1te.
You're probably one of the 'all the gear and no idea' bams who never get oot o' their mammy's loft.

Got one of those also - mainly because I have a box which has only combined mic and headphone jack and I needed somewhere to plug both into separate jacks. But it works very nicely and was zero hassle to get it running under Linux.

But yeah, see what you mean. Hardly anything on it. Went into administration but has been bought since. Oh well!
