    new PC build

Treating myself to a new PC. I need help finding a mobo and case that allows upgrades. my old pc has spare pcie slots but no feckin room in the stupid case.
Looking for a top end graphics card, good sound (maybe even a sound card), a DVD R/W drive,Sd card reader, 2+M2 nvme slots, <>8 usb slots, 2+ hdmi outs, ethernet, Wifi and bluetooth.
under desk location, so case size not an issue.
I DON't want stupid gamer flashing feckin lights!!!
Hard to find sensible (non gamer) build sites.
    Any sensible suggestions gratefully appreciated.

You mean websites/forums with help for DIY builds or companies that will build a machine for you? If the latter, try Scan. Have used them for decades and they are top notch, never had a problem with any of their builds.

+1 for Scan. Some good options in their custom builds.

If you want a simple mix-and-match configuration toolbox, have a look at the PC Specialist website. End product is fine, except for the basic power supply unit, which is fragile. However it will let you configure all required elements and verify the end result, which might help you decide what you actually need.

I bought a Gamer PC (pre-built, no configuration) recently, for my office. It's designed to be upgraded easily and the warranty matches that. It was the best value for money for a powerful PC. I think you can turn the flashing lights off.

              +1 for Scan.

Last PC I built was some years ago, but the challenge at the time was selecting components so as to minimise noise. PSUs, CPUs and GPUs will all have fans; I put a lot of effort into finding a case that would take multiple large slow fans and sourced what I needed at the time from Scan.

FWIW, the gamer PCs are generally a good platform to start from and it isn't hard to ditch or turn off all the RGB crap. They are generally better spec-ed as a baseline than office PCs, which tend to be quite low-end. Depends what you need, though. Of course, you can also start from scratch and add all of your own components, but you are probably less likely to arrive at a stable/sensible build unless you know what you're doing. Either way, someone like Scan will tell you if you're an idiot and will test/benchmark everything for stability etc. They aren't going to let a stupid/unstable build out the door.

When I say "powerful", I mean by my standards. I use it mainly for video editing. My daughter and son-in-law are gamers - their PCs are way more powerful!

                    cheers, guys.
scan looks good, <>2k for a fairly fast allround system.
