The Dell delivery dates do have a habit of moving around a lot. Then all of a sudden a courier will turn up without any forewarning
-
Staring to regret it now.
ETA 14/10, then 'your build is early!! yippee! ETA 9/10.
Then ETA 10/10, now ETA 13/10.
FFS why can't these COs use decent couriers???
DP world my arse!!

But yeah, see what you mean. Hardly anything on it. Went into administration but has been bought since. Oh well!

Audaciy ? Behringer ? Are you a tight bastard ????
I use what works without forking out for posh sh1te.
You're probably one of the 'all the gear and no idea' bams who never get oot o' their mammy's loft.

if anything, linux recognises stuff and has drivers built in much more so than windoze and that other lockin merchant.
It's not seamless, Linux expects you to know more sysadmin than windaes, but it's all free (apart from voluntary contributions, if you feel generous).
As good as ProTools IMHO, and without the constraints of the Apple universe.

I've had three Dells, all of which reliable and quality builds.
so, better the Dell you know........
Thanks again for your input.

He's hoping to be able to put a Linux distro on it (probably Mint) but if that doesn't work it's a new PC. I've looked at Overclockers as I bought it from there originally but they've moved into serious gamer territory these days and no longer cater to simpletons like us.
So I've told him to look at refurbished Dells if the Linux install doesn't work.
