So how many people were on their way to St Ives?Originally posted by dang65 View PostI remember a friend of mine told me that he was going to St Ives one day when he met a man with seven wives, and each wife had seven sacks, and each sack had seven cats, and each cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks, wives... absolute mayhem. He couldn't get his car through there at all.

It's been a big problem down that way for many years. I remember a friend of mine told me that he was going to St Ives one day when he met a man with seven wives, and each wife had seven sacks, and each sack had seven cats, and each cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks, wives... absolute mayhem. Literally full, like in the London marathon almost. Cars have to edge their way through.
St. Ives is an example, anyone been? I used to live there.

If you're both stationary and you're next to him, he can't do squat. You can kick his door and dent it, smash the wing mirror, scratch it to hell, even break the window if you really try. You can even open his door and throw things at him. If he gets out you can cycle away.Originally posted by threaded View PostHe shouted out of the window: "I'm in a car, you're on a bike. What you going to do about it?"
If you are a skilled cyclist you can do these while moving - I especially like the idea of opening his door - but he can then side-swipe you so this is advanced level-stuff. Managing to fall on his bonnet would be good though.

Most cycle lanes are filled either with pedestrians who don't know why the green lanes with big pictures of cycles exist.
The ones on roads are filled with the same pedestrians in their cars.
I use the towpath at least the crane & moorhens get out of the way, rather beautifully as well.
It's cheaper and more relaxing try it!

Cycle lanes are generally pretty useless. Too narrow and full of crap. Some classics here.

Yeah, same in Denmark. For such a flat country it explains the number of mountain bikes.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostI use some of the dedicated cycle lanes round our way, and they are ok. But, whoever decided they should be the lumpiest tarmac you can buy and not nice smooth gloss finish tarmac should be shot.

My bike doesn't have a bell, it has a 115dB airhorn so I can politely inform motorists who are about to nail me that they're morons.

Tis interesting, as every new bike has to be sold with one IIRC.Originally posted by zeitghostWHS. With bells* on.
