Yeah those loose shorts can be a bit revealing.Originally posted by zeitghostWHS. With bells* on.

Tis interesting, as every new bike has to be sold with one IIRC.Originally posted by zeitghostWHS. With bells* on.

My bike doesn't have a bell, it has a 115dB airhorn so I can politely inform motorists who are about to nail me that they're morons.
The reason that most reasonably paced commuters (of which I am one) won't use bike lanes is that they cause more accidents than they prevent. Cars pull into/park in them, and it's not unusual to see signposts or even trees (!) planted in them. Add to that the fact that the sign posting on them is rubbish. And the lord said unto John; "come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.Comment

I use some of the dedicated cycle lanes round our way, and they are ok. But, whoever decided they should be the lumpiest tarmac you can buy and not nice smooth gloss finish tarmac should be shot.Originally posted by b0redom View PostThe reason that most reasonably paced commuters (of which I am one) won't use bike lanes is that they cause more accidents than they prevent. Yeah, same in Denmark. For such a flat country it explains the number of mountain bikes.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostI use some of the dedicated cycle lanes round our way, and they are ok. Most cycle lanes are filled either with pedestrians who don't know why the green lanes with big pictures of cycles exist.
The ones on roads are filled with the same pedestrians in their cars.
I use the towpath at least the crane & moorhens get out of the way, rather beautifully as well.
It's cheaper and more relaxing try it!Comment

If you're both stationary and you're next to him, he can't do squat. You can kick his door and dent it, smash the wing mirror, scratch it to hell, even break the window if you really try. You can even open his door and throw things at him. If he gets out you can cycle away.Originally posted by threaded View PostHe shouted out of the window: "I'm in a car, you're on a bike. What you going to do about it?"
If you are a skilled cyclist you can do these while moving - I especially like the idea of opening his door - but he can then side-swipe you so this is advanced level-stuff. Managing to fall on his bonnet would be good though.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

In some tourist towns in Cornwall, streets are full of pedestrians during the summer. Literally full, like in the London marathon almost. Cars have to edge their way through.Originally posted by Churchill View PostCyclists and bloody students, God I hated living in Cambridge!
St. Ives is an example, anyone been? I used to live there.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
