It sounds like she's got the latest iPhone or Android (I think the metadata was exposed) which automatically takes several photos and uses AI to combine the best bits of each, so everyone is smiling/has open eyes.
You may have seen Google advertise this for the Pixel 8, alongside features like cutting unwanted objects/people from photos and even videos.
So, storm in a teacup which emphasises the royal family trying to be closer to the people is a bad idea and they should use official photographers.

Regardless of whether you believe the conspiracy theories etc., this situation seems to have been handled in an unusual way.
