    No long running engineering works. They just don't have enough staff thanks to the overtime bans between the strikes.

    My daughter flew into Gatwick on the 27th. She had no choice but the early flight so was prepared for the six hours to wait before boarding her train (trains started running again at 13:00). But you would have thought Gatwick weren't aware of the plane strike. Or the possibility there could be a whole bunch of foreigners flying in who had no idea there was a rail strike on. It was all rather chaotic.

    I suppose it's a novelty for our armed forces to act as Border Force.
