    I was at HSBC many years back in the Wharf.

    Whilst there on site a colleague sat behind me was not the phone to HSBC business banking complaining, I think he ended up asking for their PSID. Despite the fact they were on the same network (I think they were even able to Sametime each other) they couldn't help him...

    I left straight away...

    No idea how their systems are now but thought at the time it was awful..
    I'm sure it's the same 13 years later, no. But cool story bro.

    Didn't even know I needed to jail-break my android phone.

    I would violate my client's IT policy by doing so.

    Cydia?!

    What stupid iphone hack developer hacked the os.name to be smart / clever?

    Essentially

    // pseudo
    String delegate getOsName() {
    return the_proper_bad_boy.getOsName() + " JAIL BROKEN"
    }
    LOL

    Um - why is this essential for technology professionals?

    I'm quite glad they don't work on jailbroken phones.

    Moved from HSBC to Starling and Santander. Starling are better and seem to be the most professional of the challenger banks. One issue that is rare was sorted quickly. You can log on to their website too if you need to generate custom PDF/CSV bank statements for your records. For most use cases I think they will work just fine. They push to Xero and Freeagent too and it works well.

    Mettle are owned by RBS, under both the Natwest and RBS brands. It isn't as slick and has bugs. If you want free Freeagent, just get a mettle account, transfer money to and from it infrequently and use Starling as your main business current account. I wouldn't trust mettle to use day to day, given how buggy their app is. Starling rates the highest and regularly receives awards for features and customer service.

    That's interesting, I didn't know anyone offered per-transaction. Taking a quick look that's quite neat.
