    “The EU’s authority” is derived from every member state. If you don’t think that any country can challenge any decision then you have simply not been paying attention to Council or Parliament meetings. Contrary to what’s in your head, there is no nefarious dictator at the head of some shadowy organisation. It’s a rule-based organisation where every meeting and every decision is minuted and published (unlike our own government which likes to make decisions in secret meetings).

    As has been mentioned above, there are vetos. Do you really think that neutral countries such as Ireland will be forced into conscription?

    Veto - Wikipedia

    Like when the EU wanted to block China dumping steel into the EU market, but Britain vetoed it because the Tories hate Sheffield and Wales.

    We could stop the EU army using that same veto.
