    Update:

Found a generous gent selling SimonMac's BenQ EX 3105R model on gumtree for £225. Bargain.

One thing that doesn't seem clear is showing PBP, picture by picture. It seems to need a bizarre specific resolution in order not to show the two screens side by side, 1920x2160....

  • There are two rules in the inside IR35 world:

1: Look after yourself first and foremost
    2: See rule number 1

In inside contracts try to go PAYE from the agency, not via umbrella if at all possible.

Also consider working two contracts at once. You can then...

Some sketchy advice in this thread.

The easiest summary is to include commute hours and overnight stays in your working hours. Try to get the best hourly rate you can. If you're on a day rate, as most of us are, then overnight stays and commuting destroy your hourly total rate.

You can, but you'll likely be looking again quickly when you realise that the quality in those coutnries isn't always anywhere near acceptable. This argument is used a lot, but there's a good reason why we don't see high quality projects outsourced to India and other places. Many projects also require...

  • Agree.

The best route is to cease caring and give your month notice, explaining the chaotic nature of the project. If you are direct then people respect you. Over the next 4 weeks, put in your expected hours and don't care what anybody else thinks.

Do the role you were hired...

I gave away the two monitors I had January 2020, as they were getting old and were a bad aspect ratio. Also gave away keyboards, mice, everything. In hindsight, not the best decision I've ever made!...

I appreciate that. For someone just doing document work, I'm struggling to see what splashing out £800+ will get me over two monitors at £150 each. I may buy 6 monitors, see which two are the best, and send 4 back....

Your setup and LadyMuck's look good, but I'm able to buy 3 to 6 monitors for the same price. I see some monitors even require their own custom stand to be purchased too. ££££!...

  • Your entire comment is one that relies on hindsight. The treatment for covid19 early last year wasn't the same as now, now that studies and trial and error have reduced the number of deaths, as well as the vaccines. If you don't understand that hindsight can't be relied on at the first phase of a pandemic...

It looks good, but seems to have mixed reviews for use with Macbooks. I'm mostly on Windows, but sometimes have to use a Macbook for one client.

It appears expensive at first glance. I'm guessing this is "gaming ready" and has the usual expensive sub 1ms specification associated...

I'm looking to change from two older screens to one larger screen. I'm having some difficulty differentiating between the larger widescreen models. As mentioned in this thread the font size can be so small that it starts to cause hassle with some client laptops, more so those not using Windows 10....

It's £25000, but you can phone HSBC to request and complete a form requesting the limit to be raised permanently or for a temporary amount of time. It's useful if transferring large sums to other business accounts or members' voluntary liquidation proceedings.

  • I know some small businesses who are using it, but they work the retail sector, so a very different ball game to ours.

I suspect a half way solution is possible, in which year end accounts are completed by a local accountant. The authentication provided by this could be invaluable for getting...

  • I see people stating that they want to go down the route, but haven't yet. I also see an accountant posting what seems to be worry that people are considering this, but then cites misinformation from a website regarding RTI.

This thread is specifically asking if FreeAgent itself is viable...

  • Thanks for the responses. I did search, but could only really see FredBloggs having taken the leap of faith to DIYing accounts.

There are some problems with FreeAgent for year end accounts, from reading their FAQ. It can't handle negative corporation tax if CT ends up being a negative calculation...

    Ditching Accountant - FreeAgent Only?

    Hi there.

I'm looking to remove the chain of Me --> Accountancy --> FreeAgent by removing the Accountancy. They are a well known outfit but have made some serious mistakes in the last six months. I can either migrate to another accountancy or DIY.

    With the limited co...

You are looking too deeply into this. You were rejected. If they had wanted any clarification they would have asked you directly.

They're trawling through your history, including mobile phone and internet usage, and for some reason some aspect of you hasn't fulfilled the criteria for DV....
