The usual Monkey Life and other wildlife stuff today was followed this evening (after the dash cam thing with the vaguely annoying narration) by Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes, which had some very interesting footage and eyewitness accounts; the TV series clearly drew heavily on this material. The disaster...

Lunch was a ham bap. And tea was brought to me from the curry house over on the Hindu side of town that I first tried a few weeks ago. Very nice; very generous portions too, so it’ll be leftovers for lunch for a couple of days
In washing news, the dishwasher did its magic this...

Afternoon denizens
It’s “mostly cloudy” here too, and also clearing later, but the clouds are lacking in substance with many gaps letting the blue sky show through. Warm day as well, being 17°C and rising to 19° towards teatime. The barometers are down to 1009/1017mB but...

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was Bad Boys for Life (2020), being the third in the series; there’s another I am yet to watch. It was good enough, but I think the problem (for me) with these is that I keep forgetting I’m supposed to be watching all four of them. It was a month or more ago...

Tea has been a “firecracker” rack of ribs, and chips
To go along with it, the rest of the motorway cops thing from last night

Sorry to hear that
I should do as you command; if nothing else, it will stop my brother nagging me about it every time I see him

Shopping done!
As predicted, not a huge amount to get. But I remembered to use a voucher for 80p that they’d sent me, being some Nectar Prices that hadn’t been applied the other week for some reason
Upon returning home, I found a notification on my phone concerning...

Morning denizens
It’s another sunny day with a clear bleu sky, and expected to continue so. It’s 9°C and aiming for 17° again, with the barometers down a little at 1016/1024mB
I’ll be going shopping shortly but I don’t need much, so I’ll just pop...

Tea has been M&S slow-cooked chicken chasseur, with chips and peas. It turned out to be very nice indeed! I’ll get that again
This was accompanied by a bit of the motorway cops thing. I don’t know what’s going on with Traffic Cops, but all but one episode of the current series...

Afternoon denizens
Almost clear blue sky today - just the merest of wisps here and there. Warm too, being 16°C and aiming for 17°; the barometers are up to 1019/1027mB

Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was Monkey Man (2024), the directorial debut of Dev Patel, who also stars. Set in an Indian city, it’s the story of a chap who’s seeking revenge on the corrupt police chief who murdered his mother and the organised crime bosses who give him power, while scraping...

BST innit! Look in the settings for something like “Automatically adjust for daylight savings time” - maybe first make sure (probably in a completely different place in its settings) that it’s not fondly imagining it’s having a romantic week away in Paris, though I don’t know if they even...

For tea tonight, I treated myself to an M&S Tomapork. This is a fancy name for a very large pork cutlet; they try to add to the mystique by providing rather convoluted cooking instructions, but I just whacked it in the Remoska (once I’d measured it to be sure it would fit) and it turned out fine....

It did! Everything’s back!
Though I then had to go and tell all the things that know how to use the 4G backup network that they should switch back to the proper one

Lunch has been some leftover bits and bobs
I suspect there’s something weird going on with my broadband router, as things which were quite happy on the wifi are suddenly unable to connect. I spent much of the morning going line-by-line through the rep system so I can replicate...Last edited by NickFitz; 22 April 2026, 13:37.

I don’t bother following links to the Torygraph, but the Grauniad has started doing an annoying overlay about something or other. So I created this bookmarklet which lets me click a “Grauniad” button in my browser's “Favourites” toolbar and remove it:
...Code:javascript:void(document.documentElement.classList.remove("sp-message-open")%20||%20document.querySelector("[id^='sp_message_container']").parentElement.removeChild(document.querySelector("[id^='sp_message_container']")))

Morning denizens
It’s a sunny start again, and the wind has settled down a bit - though it’ll be back later. It’s currently 8°C (“feels like” 5°) and aiming for 16°, while the barometers are trivially up at 1016/1024mB
I awoke somewhat betimes today...

Tonight, I read more of I Am Legend. He’s starting to work things out, when he can manage to stop drinking for a while
I also spent a while having a dig through the source code for the forum (vB4 and vB5) to get an idea of how rep works
It’s my birthday tomorrow!...
