    Koyaanisqatsi has just ended, allowing me to discover that my upstairs neighbour is listening to Cars by Gary Numan

    I must say, the new (if 1998 is still new) recording of Koyaanisqatsi is excellent

        She'd only have you being dragged round the shops. Then some naff herbal tea, James Blunt on the CD player, Cosmo to read and "Don't turn the computer on - come and talk to me". And "Oh, did you need all those books? I put them in the bin". And "You left the toilet seat up again" and "why is the bathroom floor wet by the toilet, hmm?" and "Why can't you pick up your dirty socks" and and and and...

              Why not?
              Because the things you want you have to get for yourself. Since you only have finite resources (time, money, knowledge, etc.) you can only get a selection of the available stuff out there.

              The tricky bits include:
              - not knowing if you want something until you've got it;
              - going off something once you've got it;
              - enjoying what you've got burns up some of the same resources as you would use in getting more stuff.

              Does that help?
