Yes, that’s the one! Though I believe they also used 56 and 115, so it isn’t all bad

Unsurprisingly, there was an update to a Python library that checks the validity of certificates and sits somewhere in the dependency chain of our project

Tea has been an M&S slow cooked lamb shank in a Middle Eastern coconut-based sauce, with rice. Very nice, though I think I prefer my lamb shanks with a red wine-based sauce

It’s a tad breezy down here.

Tonight’s holiday motion picture premiere was Obsession (2025) in which a young man wishes on a lucky charm for the girl on whom he has a crush to fall in love with him. All a bit monkey’s paw, you might think, and so it proves. Many denizens of Bluesky have been going on about how good this one is since it first appeared, and in this case the crowd has wisdom. Excellent film, though not for the weak of stomach at times

Incidentally, and I may have mentioned this before, but although W. W. Jacobs wrote the very fine macabre short story The Monkey’s Paw, he was mainly a writer of humorous tales. It must be over twenty years ago that, seeing him described on Wikipedia as a writer of horror stories, I set to work to correct this misapprehension; and to this day, a good chunk of the stuff I wrote that evening before going down the pub is still there

          Unlike the pub

Onwards to a couple more episodes of Dark Matter, which is either slightly less confusing now or I’m getting used to it. It’s still very confusing, but in a good (if confusing) way

          Goodnight all

            Morning.

            Friday.

            Grey.

            Hints of rosy fingered dawn.

            Damply dry.

            Flat calm.

            Dreary.

15.9 deg in here, 15.3 in the kitchen, 13 in the leanto, 11 out the back.

989 mBar, 29.2 in Hg, 741.8 Torr, 14.3442 psi, (989 and a bit last night and it had been lower than 989 during the night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 7th of April 2020, between 10:52 and 11:19, in popped Brillo, BR14, LondonManc, and WTFH.

The "dry & flat calm" bit departed hence to be replaced with "semigale & torrential horizontal" after half an hour or so.

            Sun's out. Barometer now 999mBar.

Sun's in again, hammering down horizontally.

Entertainment: Alaska Homestead Rescue: Arizona high desert homestead, 7000 feet up above the snow line: 100+ deg in the summer, sub zero at times during the winter. North side of a mountain so shade after 15:00 which puts paid to much out of the solar panels & does unfortunate things to stuff growing in the garden. Installed another sunken greenhouse to extend the growing season. Built a barn for the goats & moved the chicken coop close to it, both closer to the house to discourage predators. Impressive unpaved mud road that's nearly impassable when snowy. Installed guttering for water collection. Moved the water tank & installed more. Impressive house which made a change, so they didn't do anything to that other than improve the solar system from 24V to 48V, with lithium batteries replacing the lead acid. 36 acres but much of it isn't what one might term horizontal since includes a fair size mountain.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM.

Taggart S18 E2 "Fire, burn". The first of the post Jardine eps. Lots of bombs in this one.

Gosh. Piers Morgan was talking to some chap who'd made a 4 hour documentary about the wunderkind Musk.

Buongiorno, Bologna calling, local time 1025

Cloudy with gaps, dry. Currently 12 degrees with a high of 19 expected. Light to heavy rain expected this afternoon - evening. Barometer at 1021 mBar.

              Sunrise 07:40; Sunset 18:17 CEST

We were delayed out of Paris by about an hour yesterday but it didn't really impact us. The evening was spent having wine, meats, and cheeses before ending the night in a very good cocktail bar that definitely wasn't here 10 years ago.

A bit of sightseeing and postcard buying to be done today.

                Morning all

                TFIF, etc.
Windy and raining overnight, but quite mild on our walk, if a bit damp. Sun is currently out, and the wind has picked up again.

                  Morning denizens

It’s a gloomy, grey, drizzly day today, with a Yellow Warning for wind just to make things interesting. Doesn’t seem noticeably breezy though; it was windier last night, before the warning started. It’s 12°C which “feels like” 10°, and shortly to reach the day's high of 13°; the barometers are well down at 982/990mB

The breadmaker has made white dough and I’ve divvied it up into finger rolls, which are now rising in the kitchen

They won’t be ready for a while though, so I’m having a bag of BBQ Hula Hoops (BIG Hoops, to be precise) to tide me over

And I’ve just remembered I meant to change the bed today, so I’ll have to get that sorted out

Late lunch was one of the freshly-baked finger rolls with bacon and butter, and very nice it was too

They’re longer rolls than the ones you get in the shops, because that makes it easier to fit two sausages in there. So I need to have one with sausages next

The wind has arrived, but it’s already at Heathrow where Big Jet TV has been activated. Sadly, Jerry isn’t there in person - they’ve now got a remote-controlled camera mounted on the roof of a house by the paddock. It even has a wiper!
