Tea has been beef and ale stew, with a crust of the excellent white loaf for dunking

This was accompanied by the second part of Tsunami 2004: The Day the Wave Hit on 4

It rained this afternoon, then brightened up, then it went gloomy again and seems to be raining some more

Meanwhile, the squirrels are back on their thing of getting conkers from the tree out the back, bringing them along the garden wall, over the roof of some garages, round the end of the adjacent block, across the drive, and out in front of our block where they finally eat them, leaving the remains of the spiky cases scattered around. I have no idea why they do this rather than just eating them where they get them

More Rumpole read. They're a pleasant enough way to pass the time

On the subject of crime, I saw the video (the one from just in front of the stage, not the one from further back) of that pro-gun chap getting an extremely brief opportunity to reconsider his views before he was completely exsanguinated. Not a pretty sight, and it was perfectly obvious he must have been dead in seconds, no matter how long it took for that fact to be officially confirmed. I suppose those who live by the Second Amendment must be prepared to die by the Second Amendment

      Thursday tomorrow!

      Goodnight all

        Morning denizens

It's a quite sunny start out, though there's smallish bits of cloud clustering hither and yon - largely altocumulus, I think? It's 12°C but "feels like" 7° because it's still quite breezy; the expected high is 16° this afternoon, though that may bring rain with it, or at least coincide with rain. The barometers are down a little more at 988/996mB

          Morning all

Blue sky with lumps of fluff wafting by. Currently 13 degrees with a high of 18 expected. Could be some rain mid afternoon. Barometer down to 1002 mBar.

          Sunrise 06:30; Sunset 19:25 BST

Builders turned up early this morning, I wasn't dressed! Sounds like the render on the wall stayed put overnight.

          Time for coffee.

Put a high-vis on over my jacket this morning before the walk, is it was dull out. Rained for part of it, but not too bad.

Cold, dead hand & all that. . I looked but didn't find the vid.

              Morning.

              Thursday.

              Wet. Intermittently torrential.

              Wanly sunny.

Flock of swallows/swifts/martins busily swooping about the place on their way back to that Africa.

              Grey.

Cooler in here at 18.4 deg, 19 in the kitchen, 17 in the leanto.

996 mBar, 29.4 in Hg, 747 Torr, 14.44 psi, (up from 995 last night), 73% RH (Lidl electric), 80% GDR hair.

Meanwhile on the 15th of February 2020 Storm Dennis was busy storming, being wot WTFH had flown over the previous day on his way back, BR14 popped in, NF still couldn't remember the film and LM didn't know wot it was either, I went shopping & got wet & cancelled the walk for that day.

Freecell score: 88%, running average: 84%. Started badly: lost 1st game.

              Torrential rain.

              Sun.

              More torrential rain.

              Sun.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: my tinnitus. Y&Y waffling on about fraud. <click>.

Goodbye to the forsythia: blown down in the gale & the roots were rotten. It'll meet its end in the next bonfire.

Brief walk walked, thus inducing a deluge.

              Sunny again now.

I see yesterday's 13 center used a bolt action "high powered" rifle rather than an AR15. . Seems to have neglected some of the finer points according to those who know.

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 84%.

More swifts/swallows/martins doing their thing in a flock up & down the route of the canal.

Tea: beans on toast etc. Nice enough.

              Entertainment: PM.

              Book.

Thing about the DES scandal & the lack of support in the UK. Odd that.

Possibly the thing about the notional 5th 9/11 plane.

                Lunch: a pork pie

That's the second time this week, though at least this one was within its Use By date, though only by one day. Nice as they are, I think that's probably enough pork pies for a while

Consideration of the contents of the fridge and freezer has led me to conclude that I needn't bother going shopping this week!

The wall is finished, and very good it looks too. Someone will be back next week to paint it.

Now the heavens have opened so that was a timely exit. Sadly I need to get to the post office to post a birthday card so I hope it eases up before collection time.

I got distracted by pesky meetings for a while. Suddenly it was 4.25 pm and I couldn't remember if last collection was 5 pm or 5.30 pm. A hurried scurry out the door followed. It was 5.30 pm but at least the cards are posted.

On my walk back I popped into Sainsbury's for some orange and mango juice. There wasn't anything else there that took my fancy so that was that.

About 5 mins after I got home, rain. Good job Sainsbury's didn't prove to be more alluring today.
