Afternoon all
We had rain overnight. Proper, garden watering rain.

In other news, last year we put up a bird box with a camera in it. About a month ago a pair of Great Tits started to build a nest in it. For the last few evenings one of them has been sleeping in it overnight. This morning when she flew out, there was an egg.

We've got two pairs of bluetits in residence this year (1 pair last year) and one vacancy.
fingers crossed.
no cameras though, so i Could be lying, i suppose.
Loooong morning today, got a scan at 14:00, - no grub/milk/fruit juice allowed 8 hrs before.

Hope it all went OK. I had a checkup on Monday and the results weren't great, but we've got a plan.

Well my friend got royally shafted by the Met Police & CPS. The min sentence was 12 weeks custody, reduced to 8 weeks for pleading guilty. This was suspended for 18 months and ordered to do 120h community service.

Sends the message that no-one takes domestic abuse seriously. Absolutely livid.

I had to keep going until now to ensure the bits I was supposed to have done were actually done (why does it take AWS 18 minutes to create an OpenSearch instance?) and related tickets were up to date, but… DONE! I am now officially on holiday for ten days!

I'm going to go shopping in a bit so I don't have to do it tomorrow, and get tea from the chip shop on the way back

I only really needed a few bits which I could have got from the Not-as-Big one, but they don't sell Viz so I had to go to Big instead

And then home via the VAT fraud chip shop. I think they'd been hit by a busy spell just before I arrived so by the time I got to the front of the queue, I had to wait a couple of minutes for fresh fish and chips to be cooked

The fact they had knocked the period being covered was reduced down to 3 weeks tells you everything you need to know.

Forgot to mention that the Victim Support Officer from the Met promised her victim impact statement would be read out, either wholly or in part, before sentencing. That didn't happen and wasn't even referenced. It's like the CPS solicitor completely forgot it existed or decided it wasn't relevant. The judge/magistrate didn't ask if it existed either (I don't know if they ordinarily would).

I have to say, if I ever ended up in such a situation I would have absolutely no faith in a just outcome.

Still angry and I'm not even the victim!

I'm angry from your first comment and I don't know the victim just that she's been shafted from very early on based on your first comment. What I will say is that I'm equally not surprised domestic violence is woefully underplayed.
