    Afternoon denizens

Another nice day out, though there's more in the way of high, streaky cloud today which I think presages a change in the weather. It's 17°C and may get up to 18° in a bit. The barometers are sharply down though: 994/1002mB

Woodland volunteer thing this morning. Bit knackering but free cake, what else matters? Music event this evening, nagged into going by loony lady 3. Don't think loony is a joke anymore.

        Afternoon all

Lovely sunny day. Clouded over a bit over the course of the day. Currently 22 degrees and the high was 23. Barometer sharply down to 1001 mBar.

        Sunrise 06:12; Sunset 19:53

This morning HWMBO and I popped to the farmers' market where I was able to procure some chilli sauce, albeit not the one I went there for. This afternoon HWMBO booked a cocktail bar and a restaurant for date night and we're on our way there now.

This evening's culinary adventure was Nepalese food from a pub just outside the city centre. Very nice indeed, and really generous portions too

As it happens, I did a bit of part-time work at the pub in question about thirty years ago. I knew the chap who'd just taken it on, and he got me to come in for the lunchtime session once or twice a week, and occasional evenings, so he could do stuff like go to the cash & carry. It's surrounded by industrial units over the road from a 1960s council estate (though the pub itself is, I think, from the 1930s) so skewed very heavily working class in its clientele. The sausage factory round the corner had a shift that ended around midday, so I got to meet a lot of people who worked in sausage-making and came in for a pint on their way home to the estate

Anyway, like quite a few pubs hereabouts, whoever has it now has gone in for Indian food (well, Nepalese in this case) and has developed a good reputation for it, which I would say is well deserved

            Morning.

            Sunday.

            Damp.

            Wanly sunny.

            Grey.

Chilly in here at 15.2 deg, 15.5 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto.

1001 mBar, 29.5595 in Hg, 750.8 Torr, 14.52 psi, (up from 999 last night), 62% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 9th of January 2020 NF had binged on the tv version of Hanna, and Brillo had binged on posting.

Yesterday's use of the otex ear drops has totally blocked my right ear. Which is irritating.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the wan sunshine. Ear unblocked a little on the way up. Way back down the alternate route proved more muddy than yesterday.

            Lunch: brunch

Entertainment: some crap or other on R4 that isn't forever Ambridge.

Which turned out to be more of the R4 thing about The Reichsleiter.

Followed by analysis on youtube about the helicopter crash in NY.

Some minor potching in the garage: dunno how I'll be able to sort it all out. Scarcely room to swing a cat in there now.

Tea: beans on toast, augmented with a couple of boiled eggs, and, for some reason, a slice of corned beef. Nice enough.

Entertainment: whatever replaced the tedious poetry thing at 17:20 on R4.

After which, as far as I can determine: there's feck all to watch on the box.

Thusly I spent some time seeking out "Alfridscombe", Union Square, Neath. And found "Union Square" at last on a 1940s OS map. Not, I must admit, where I'd thought it might be. Shows how streets get renamed & houses renumbered. It's not even a square.

I forgot to bid TPD good night again last night!

I was feeling pretty tired by the time I went to bed around midnight though

Anyway, today is supposed to be cloudy all day - yet the sun has just come out, or at least found a patch of cloud so thin as to be of little effect. It's already 10°C but the high will only be 13°, and it appears it'll be quite windy. The barometers are continuing their downward slide at 990/998mB

Lunch has been corned beef butties (white)

The sun went back in again, and it's a grey day. Not rainy or particularly cold though

                  Afternoon all

Cloudy but reasonably bright. Some spits and spots of rain. Currently 16 degrees and that's the high for the day. Showers to continue off and on for the rest of the day. Barometer up to 1003 mBar.

Not visiting Mum today. Just really, really didn't want to drive down there.
