Morning all

Sunny. Clear blue sky. Some damp on the ground, frost or dew I suppose. Currently 4 degrees ('feels like' 2) with a high of 7 expected. Barometer up to 1005 mBar.

Last bit of holiday laundry in the WM. Dry clothes have been folded and put away.

Today's main job is to check tyre pressures and the oil level. I also need to book my car in for its overdue service. It'll be an expensive one as there's other jobs that need doing which I've been putting off since the summer.

Good day at the office. Sat next to a friend of mine, had a coffee with another. Got offered an extension of three, maybe four, months.

...

That turned out to be a damp squib.

The offer has turned into 2 days a week for 8 weeks. Hardly worth the effort, except it is as it at least reduces the hit to my ever depleting war chest. I offered to work while I'm away the first two weeks of February but the skinflints decided to set the start date to 17 Feb.

Sod all else out there at the moment and the approaches I had while I was on holiday have come to nought.

Heinz tomato soup and white toast for lunch

Basic car checks done. Could do with an oil change, as expected, but didn't need a top up. My car seems to burn / lose very little oil, which isn't bad for a 20 year old banger.

All tyres needed a top up, with the opposite corners being really quite low.

Dinner has arrived, from Dishoom. To be washed down with a G&T.

Tea has been brought to me on a velocipede from Popeyes Louisiana Chicken. Very nice as fried chicken goes, though the lack of an apostrophe in their name leaves something to be desired

Today was the usual chunk of Monkey Life plus other wildlife stuff

And this evening, I finished the Colditz book

Grey day, though with some evidence of thin patches glimmering here and there. It looks as if there's been a bit of rain overnight, though not a lot. The current 3°C will creep up to 7°, while the barometers are dropping again, being at 985/993mB. And more rain is due this afternoon and tonight
