Shopping has been done, with the singular exception of a suit for my sister's father-in-law's funeral on Monday.
I haven't worn a suit in years, partly because of not having any. But I'll need one, so I popped into M&S. How are the mighty fallen! Nobody there to measure you and generally help out, and a very sorry selection. In the end, the only way I could find out what size I was in terms of suits was to get one that I thought was about right, try it on in the dressing room, and see where my guess had been wrong. But armed with this knowledge, it was impossible to find a complete suit in my size from the frankly very limited selection on offer
I'll see what they have online that might get there for collection over the weekend, if there is anything, but at this rate I'll have to pop into townComment

Lunch: pâté on sesame bloomer toast
After much hassle with the M&S site (including a Java class not found error from a servlet) I finally managed to put together a suit that will, in principle, fit me and will make it to the store for collection on Sunday afternoon. I'm not reassured by the pig's ear they made of this process with my new coat. But at least I can get a refund if they mess it up, and will have Sunday afternoon to belt into town and find somewhere else that sells suits
I'm not absolutely sure where such a place might be though. All the ones on Gallowtree Gate have gone, according to Street View (Dunn & Co, Burton's, etc.; the kind of places my dad used to go) so no good looking there. There's probably something in the big shopping centre - though not Debenhams as that closed down recentlyComment

I guess the days are gone when you could hang around the courts to borrow a suit from someone that got let off...Comment

Walk briskly walked, green and red rings closed
I took the alternative, shorter route as I'd already got fair amount of green ring credit for roaming M&S trying to work out where all the suits had gone

Good call. Don't hang around the courts, instead wait for them to return to their constituency offices...
