After a frustrating day it's tempting to not turn up tomorrow. Instead I booked another holiday

Read another chapter and a bit of When Money Dies. It occurs to me that once the pandemic is over, Johnson will need something else to distract people from his vile and corrupt behaviour, so maybe he'll go for a bit of the old Weimar-style hyperinflation

I'm hoping that Switzerland is on the green list. And that either my sister in law or my niece has bought somewhere to live where we can stay. Sometime in July would be good.

Sauna place has finally opened up a new sauna - a Russian one. 100°C and 20% humidity. It was wonderful. 10 minutes then straight into the 15°C cold pool. Scream and relax.

Watching The Curse of Oak Island.

Season 2 seems to be focussed on trying to find the money pit while waiting for permits to be issued for further draining of, and potching about in, the swamp.

After much unproductive drilling, they eventually got down to 140ft and were able to take a core sample. Something that looks like concrete on top of wood came out.

A chap from Sweden reckons he's cracked the code found on the stone slab in the money pit, saying that it's a double cipher code so there's a second message to reveal. Apparently Francis Bacon signed it, cos that's obviously what the extra F at the end of the new version of the message means :

A trip to Halifax to talk to the Masons about the chap who removed the stone slab.

Some barely visible lines on a coin found in slurry from the money pit drillings result in it being declared Knights Templar currency.



I do dlslike the flickering effect they put on when showing historical stuff, usually documents. It makes my eyes go funny.

Just caught the tail end of what seems to have been a very bright red sunset

Another mildly hectic day. But the contract came through for the extension until the end of August

Weirdly, it's dated until the very end of August, which is a Tuesday after a Bank Holiday. Not sure if they want that because our sprints end on a Tuesday so, from that perspective, it works out well; but if there's been no further extension by then, I hope they won't be expecting too much of me that day

I had a really bad night's sleep last night, plagued by strange and disturbing dreams that kept waking me, which I put down (even at the time) to being too hot; but I wasn't going to get up and start mucking around with the duvet in the small hours, and my brain knew that, so I don't see why it had to be such a dick about it

Anyway, I've just gone through the process of removing the one-third portion of the duvet. If my brain starts complaining tonight that it's too cold, I will not be happy

In addition to reading about hyperinflation, I watched a bit of Trucking Hell. I was going to watch the next episode of Hospital but it turned out it was on at the time, and for some weird reason iPlayer doesn't have subtitles when playing live or from-the-start-while-live (or at least it didn't last time I tried) so I'll watch it another time.

Early night now, in the vague hope of having a better night and making up for some of the ruined sleep of last night

Morning denizens

Another warm, sunny start, currently being on 15°C with 26° expected later, and a slight chance of showers this evening though without getting much cooler. Barometers very slightly down at 1003/1011mB

And I had a much better night's sleep. Woke at about quarter-to-six but that was mainly because I'd left the curtain slightly ajar to let some fresh air in and the sun was also taking advantage of the facility; but I turned over and went back to sleep. Then I awoke again because of a weird cramp I sometimes get in my right foot when it's cold, which turned out to be due to it having got outside the duvet; foot was massaged until it warmed up and was OK again, duvet was adjusted, and back to sleep for another hour or so, which has left me feeling much more refreshed than I did yesterday

Lunch: poached tomato and scrambled egg on Morrisons sunflower & pumpkin seed toast, bramble jelly sandwich on Morrisons malted bread (that's something I won't be buying again), a corner yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

"Gunfighters (1947)" with that Randolph Scott chap, turns out I've watched this one before but it's amusing enough.

Vac run around the house a bit, then emptied.

Other big orange Vax vac used to vac the stairs.

Tea: the last of the chicken & sausage with carrots & onions, the last of the tinned fruit cocktail, a yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

Turned off Enterprise S4 E22 mostly coz it's absolute crap.

Dr Pimplepopper where in Reggie is having the acne keloiditis nuchae removed, but not by her, rather another doctor who specialises in it.

Feck me they're chopping a large lump off the back of his neck.

The wound isn't closed, he leaves a couple of mm gap between the edges.

3 months later it's healed quite well.

Once that's done there's some wonderfully pustulent goodness to look forward to.

Lady with a big boil on her face: epidermoid cyst, lovely & pustulent.

The result is very good.

Now a chap with a fine selection of lumps & bumps & scars.

He self medicates using thorns off a cactus.

The first cyst was in fact two, one of which squirted over the nurse, the other was less dramatic.
