    Goodnight all

This very evening's televisual entertainment was provided by "Elementary", followed by the last ep of this season of "Homeland"

Interesting conclusion, I wonder where the next season will go.

Followed by the thing on BBC4 about the new & improved mk2 version of the mausoleum around the Chernobyl reactor.

      An impressive piece of engineering.

Interesting to realise that the "snow" on the video taken in the sarcophagus is caused by the elevated radiation levels therein.

        Morning denizens

Seems a little chilly, but a nice sunny start out there

Sunny and cold, with added pollen from the feel of it.

They were. Ate 'em on a bench at Queensferry overlooking the First, Second and Third Forth Bridges.

The other culinary highlights from the weekend would be the bacon and Stornoway black pudding breakfast roll provided by the Glencoe Gathering pub/cafe, and the mackerel paté starter I had at the Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite. Also worthy of a Mention in Dispatches would be the giant bowl of homemade crisps on the bar at the Pheasant which helped bridge the gap between the aforementioned black pudding, and the mackerel paté. Nom nom

In other news, I have given a further boost to British industry by finally replaced my sole-less walking boots with a pair of Alt-Berg which will now need some breaking in.

Oh, what it is to live in interesting times.

More interestingly, I saw my first swift/swallow/house martin* this morning.

                    A pair.

Yesterday morning the owner of a local brewery sent me a message on FB to say that he was going for a long dog walk and might end up in my local. I told him to ring our bell when he got here.
2pm The Wife (tm) and I stop gardening to have lunch. We'd half a bottle of wine left from Sunday, so opened it. It disappeared quickly, so a second one was opened. Just as we finished it, the doorbell rings. We didn't go into the pub, just stayed in our back garden. He was going to have a beer then leave. The brewer's Mrs finished work at 7pm, by which time we had shot a pigeon and prepped it for the BBQ, got some sausages and mackerel sorted too. When she arrived, she brought a couple of cases of his beers.
We sat down to eat around 9pm and they left at midnight.

Also during the day our oldest chicken died - she was 6 and the first one we got, so the evening counted as a wake.
