Tea was brought from the nearby Turkish grill place

This was largely because I now get a few quid off my next order for being a repeat customer, and that offer expires in a couple of days. But it's also quite suitable food for hot weather

Lots of wildlife stuff on the box as usual today

And this evening, I started reading The Corner That Held Them by Sylvia Townsend Warner, a novel about a medieval convent in the Fens

Still warm here, though it'll cool down a fair bit overnight

      Goodnight all

        Morning.

        Sunday.

Dry. Very very very very very.

        Sunny. Fair too.

Warm in here at 23.8 deg, 25 deg in the kitchen, 23.5 in the leanto.

1005 mBar, 29.6776 in Hg, 753.8 Torr, 14.576 psi, (down from 1005.5 last night), 69% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 31st of January 2020 Brillo, Openstrike, WTFH, LM, and LondonManc popped in, whilst BR14 was lamenting the lack of anything to watch until he found "Shelley" on that long gone Forces Channel of yore. Twas good, that channel. Whereas NF was single stepping through some dubious API until he determined after a mere 90 minutes that it was a crock of tulipe.

Freecell score in the unbearable heat: 88%, running average: 83%.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: other other other other book.

STNG seems to have replaced the Oz/NZ police thing. . And it's S1 which was so mediocre as to be not worth bothering with, since The Great Bird was still alive & sticking his oar in, as it were. It improved no end once he wasn't.

"Book of Secrets" with Lance Reddick: "Protecting POTUS". Well that's giving someone pointers for The Orange Moron's Scotland visit. .

I remember the amusement of the Septics attempting to navigate Cornwall in The Beast. . They really don't fecking get it do they?

        https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57424507

        .

Tea: beans on toast with scrambled egg: no frankfurter. Nice enough.

Entertainment: chap talking about why he wrote Schindler's Ark.

More of that R4 thing about the 1945 election. Including the "Gestapo" speech. .

BBC Alba: "A boy in Harris" (1966). BBC Alba. Another Finlay J. McDonald film. Said boy is still going strong judging by FB.

Thing about Wolves in Scotland. Well they'd keep the deer in check.

Big blip in the power just now.

That cloudflare thing is getting really really old.

          Morning denizens

Cloudy start out, and expected to continue so while also being a bit cooler, or at least less hot: 19°C at the moment but not getting past 25° this afternoon. The barometers are down a touch more at 1003/1011mB

              Wasp in the living room!

Luckily it was on the window wandering around, and didn't raise any objection to being temporarily secured in a glass with a bit of card while I got the window open and let it out

                Tea: Turkish leftovers

Still fairly cloudy out but the sun's getting through. And I believe the blackbird couple from the hedge have raised a second brood; there seem to be some more young ones bimbling about on the lawn!

Tonight's viewing was the first part of Live Aid at 40 on iPlayer

And later, I read another chunk of The Corner That Held Them. The Black Death has caused a lot of problems for the nuns and the residents of the Fenland countryside, but also led to some good things - though not everything is as it seems. Anyway, some progress has been made, over the course of a decade or so, on adding a steeple to the convent chapel; so that's nice

Monday again tomorrow. Three more weeks; twelve more days

                  Goodnight all

                    Morning denizens

Sunny start, with some clumps of cloud hither and yon. It's already 19°C but only getting up to 24° today; tomorrow's expected high has been reduced to 17° and the chance of rain is up to 85%, so roll on Tuesday! Back here on Monday, the barometers are down some more at 999/1006mB

                      Morning all
We have clouds! No rain, but at least it means it wasn't too hot on our walk. Max is still fairly tired after a weekend of no daytime naps and lots of swimming.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
