    Morning all
Drizzly out, a fair bit of rain overnight means at least 3 of our water butts are full again, and the pond is looking a bit healthier too.
MPB have emailed to say that the old camera gear has arrived with them and they are assessing it.
Jet2 are in the process of deciding how much to send me in compensation for a 3hr 15min delay on a flight - they had messaged at the time of the delay that I may be due compensation. Looking at the rules, it appears the payout may be more than the cost of the flight.

Morning playing Mahjong with old women. Just a lone wonky this afternoon.

        Lunch: a Sainsbury's steak slice

I must remember not to buy so many of those pastry things at once, or at least ensure the dates are widely spaced. They're nice enough, but lunchtime gets a bit samey when you have to get through a bunch of them in a week

The rain has stopped, though it's unclear whether this is just a hiatus or if it's done for the day

Down on the lawn, a crow started trying to lord it over one of the magpies. In flew another magpie, first perching in the small tree in the middle, then landing nearby on the lawn. This made the crow pause for a bit but, as the second magpie remained some way away, it got a little pushy again. The second magpie moved closer, and then a third appeared and roosted in the trees along the front. Once again, the crow had pause for thought. After a bit, it made a few vague gestures like walking briskly towards the first magpie before veering off, then left. The magpies remain calm throughout, but I think they made it clear that they aren't going to be pushed around and if the crow wants to come and use their lawn, it had better behave itself. I doubt it'll learn though

          Afternoon all

Dull, damp. Raining occasionally, mostly drizzle. Currently 16 degrees and that's the high for the day. Barometer down to 1000 mBar.

          Sunrise 04:48; Sunset 21:14 BST

I went to ClientCo offices today to meet someone I last worked with in 2020 for a coffee and a catch up. I left the office at 3.30pm due to boredom. I did log back in on getting home.

            Another week done!

It's felt like a moderately productive week for a change

I'll go to Not-as-Big Sainsbury's in a bit, when the traffic on the main road has calmed down. Tomorrow lunchtime I'm going to collect my new glasses, and I can't be doing with having two things to do in one day

Not-as-Big Sainsbury's has been gone to!

It started raining heavily at half five, which was supposed to go on for an hour. Luckily it didn't, stopping after twenty-odd minutes

The shopping included stuff to be put to use in the breadmaker this weekend

Tea has been Sansbury's slow-cooked pulled pork and BBQ sauce, with chips. Quite nice, though they need a bit more variety in their BBQ sauces

And to go with this, the latest episode of Night Coppers

No further telly tonight as I got too involved with following the spat between Trump and Musk

Though I did find time to read a bit more of Ludicrous which is, for those reading tomorrow, about the car company Musk used to run before Trump had him arrested and deported and seized all his assets

                    Morning all

Overcast earlier which is now clearing.
Since we had a decent amount of rain over the last couple of days, the house water butts were full again. I decided to use some out of two of them to top up the pond (I know, same story as yesterday).
Unfortunately it appears I didn't fully turn off the tap on the top butt, so while I only put about 40 litres from it into the pond via a watering can, the other 180 litres have drained out and there's a puddle around the butt.

                      Morning.

                      Friday.

                      Damp.

                      Wanly sunny.

Blue sky in very few parts.

Chilly in here at 17.4 deg, 18 in the kitchen, 16 in the leanto.

1002 mBar, 29.59 in Hg, 751.56 Torr, 14.533 psi, (up from 999 last night), 71% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of January 2020 NF had postxmas turkey soup for lunch, while LM had a bagel & marmite with a punnet of cherries later, and I was booked in for an xray a couple of days later, LM was awaiting a charity collection between 1700 and 2100, whilst xogg was attempting to transfer phone numbers in csv between a pc and his phone.

Walk (abbreviated due to lack of interest) walked: 9 orchids counted.

                      Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: R4 green crap: hydrogen economy and Bacon Sandwich Man.

Minor strimming of the front lawn: I've left the flowers that are still being visited and strimmed the small amount where they weren't.

Strimmer cord as irritating as ever. It's always a pain in the arse to feed it out.

Done for today. Too knackered to bother further.

                      Tea: Brains faggots with peas.

                      Entertainment: PM. The News Quiz.

Twighlight Zone: The Changing of the Guard S3 E37. TZ does "Goodby Mr Chips".

Repair Shoppe: the usual stuff: stuffed elephant, woodworm ridden desk. French clock: victorian repro.

Book. Further away from finishing this one than I'd thought.

                      HIGNIFY.

Bit of John Wick III. I have no recall of this. And IV has sat unwatched & collecting dust for years.
