Tonight's major motion picture premiere has been Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005). As often seems to be the case with comedy sequels, it felt like there were a few places where they could have worked harder on the writing but went for the easy laugh instead. But it was still better than many such sequels
Earlier, I noticed that the new(ish) upstairs neighbour's small blue van was parked with its lights on, and vaguely assumed he was just going out or just getting back. But later, I realised it was in the same spot, still with its lights on. I concluded that he must have forgotten to turn them off, so I traipsed upstairs and rang his bell and let him know, for which he was duly grateful. It felt a bit weird to be going and ringing the bell on another flat though; we tend to keep ourselves to ourselves here, so it was the first time I've ever done that
Cool in here at 20.4 deg, 21 in the kitchen, 19.5 in the leanto.
1012 mBar, 29.884343 in Hg, 759.1 Torr, 14.6778 psi, (up from 1011 last night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 27th of January 2020 NF observed an altercation on the road outside between a van driver (colour of van unstated) and another driver who'd tooted his horn at said van driver. Brillo popped into The Smoke. LM enquired where he was. LondManc had returned from a Darwin Escape in that Cornwall.
Shopping trip to Morrisons & B&M done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away. Dunno if the new iRon works yet.
More potching in the garage: gosh there's a lot of obscure BBC B stuff, and a 6502 2nd processor that looks as if it's never been plugged in. Ought to get rid of it all.
Tea: beans on toast etc.
Entertainment: PM. Ancient Aliens bollox. Other UFO bollox that sent me to sleep.
Can't find anything else to watch this evening, particularly not on BBC4.
Dalgliesh S2 E3, E4: A Certain Justice. Hadn't seen that one before which makes a change.

Next thing is to get his mobile/give him yours so that you can just message each other with things like that.
Sunny with occasional wisps of fluff. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 27 expected. There was some rain around bed time last night but there's no sign of it now. Barometer up to 1020 mBar.
Sunrise 04:46; Sunset 21:22 BST
HWMBO and I went to Bentley's Bar and Grill for dinner yesterday, going via Harvey Nichols where I picked up a £50 gift voucher so I could decide at my leisure what I want to do with the free cash from Amex.
Due to the heat wave scheduled for next week, many people at ClientCo are planning on being in the office because it has air conditioning. I need to be there on Tuesday but I think I might also go in on Monday too.
Mainly cloudy out, though with some thinner patches letting the light through. It's going to be a warm one as we build up to the weekend heatwave: already 18°C and aiming for 25°. It's 24° in here now, so I reckon the air conditioner will be brought into play later. The barometers have leapt up to 1007/1014mB
I'm off to Not-as-Big Sainsbury's in a bit, though I don't need much - just enough to make it worth the trip. I daresay it'll somehow cost me as much as it always does, though
No word on the office attendance thing. More precisely, the word I got is that there's been no word from higher up yet
Mind you, it's still early days. They won't be even thinking about starting to enforce it until late July, and may not even be ready by then. Coincidentally, that's about the time this project should be coming to a close, so it might be an ideal time to get out if things don't go my way
I told the latest gig that I only worked from home.
They then, after two meetings, said 'two days/week in office'.
I said 'goodbye'.
they came back two weeks later and said 'ok, when can you start?'

That's the way to do it
Sadly, this has come down from the Cabinet Office and when they tell departments to jump, the only thing the Chiefs are worried about is how high. And the Civil Service, at least at the levels that I'm grade-equivalent to, is beholden to the principle that nobody is irreplaceable. Fair enough really; if a company goes bust because the one person who knew everything was hit by a bus, it only affects a few shareholders. The same thing in the Civil Service could mean the entire apparatus of the State stops working (even more so than usual)
