    Morning.

    Wednesday.

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Blue sky in parts.

Chilly side of cool in here at 17.5 deg, 18.5 in the kitchen, 16 in the leanto.

1001.5 mBar, 29.57 in Hg, 751.2 Torr, 14.53 psi, (up from 1001 last night), 69% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of January 2020 WTFH was planning on building more chicken fences, NF was busy watching S3 E9 & 10 of STNG, Brillo popped in, BR14 popped in, LM popped in.

Entertainment: More or Less, followed by that thing about the Jewish chap involved with poison gas in WWII.

Walk along the canal towpath. 7 orchids spotted. More trees down, the canal is totally unnavigable now.

Oh, and the water level is as low as I've ever seen it*, plus there was a dead fish at one point, presumably due to lack of oxygen.

*Other than when it used to be drained so they could clean it a little. The new lot don't bother at all.

Timed to the second again: rain started as I walked in through the door.

    Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: Y&Y waffling on about crowd funded book scam.

Having discovered the metal sheets secreted by Strangelove Pater, I've been making repair patches for the grandfather's toolbox.

You can cut metal sheeting with a circular saw if it's fitted with the correct type of blade.

I've even retained all my fingers** unlike some of the previous incumbents. .

    **So far, touch wood. .

Bloody awkward stuff to cut though. Noisy even with the eye & ear protection in place.

Today's potching in the garage done for now. The toolbox shouldn't fall to bits quite so easily in the future.

Used the Lidl(tm) drill press for the first time. Dunno when I bought it, but it's a decade or more ago. Also used the Lidl(tm) workpiece holder thingie. Worked ok.

    Tea: soup etc.

    Entertainment: PM.

Digging for Britain. It was so gripping I dozed off.

Maigret and the Wine Merchant. The one where said merchant is offed leaving a knocking shop.

Last 10 minutes of "Parker" with that jason statham chap. Tribute to Donald E. Weslake in the credits.

Got a free (from old fart/loony lady things) day today. Must bore myself this morning by trying to fix disappearance of my little business web site from Google.

        Lunch: a Sainsbury's chicken & bacon slice

It's getting cloudier out but it's still quite bright

The docs want to "see" me (via telephone) again, but the first free appointment isn't until the end of the month

Looking at the latest batch of test results, it appears this morning's delivery was all good. The blood test that they were interested in has also come back and seems much better this time; I think it's now back to the range where it's "probably just your age" rather than "literally falling to pieces as we watch" which might explain why the appointment booking link only offered me non-urgent slots. Either way, I suppose I'll find out the truth of the matter in three weeks or so

The flat on the middle floor of the adjacent block that's been on the market since before I moved here has finally sold! So for the first time since I came here, none of the flats are for sale

            Evening all

It's been a sunny / cloudy day today. The ever present 'risk of rain' didn't amount to much. Currently 17 degrees and the high was 18. Barometer remains steady.

            Sunrise 04:48; Sunset 21:12 BST.

Busy day across two coalfaces but enough achieved to justify the time billed.

There was an influx of ants in the living room; no idea where they came from. I keep finding odd pockets of ants, seemingly scouting for something, but I can't work out where their entry point is.

Curried mince and chips for tea

Accompanied by the rest of the motorway-ish cops thing I started watching the other night

We had one rather heavy shower towards the end of the afternoon, but it's brightening up again now

More of Ludicrous has been read this evening. It's 2009 and Musk has saved the company! Oh wait, he's done it by misusing customer money, lying to investors, and various other activities that almost certainly constitute fraud. But some journalists have written nice things about him so clearly that was all justifiable

                Thursday tomorrow!

                Goodnight all

Cancelled (no refund on deposit) original flights for The Wife’s birthday, and rebooked with the same (“world’s favourite”) airline with a slight diversion and better seats.

                    Morning denizens

Rainy grey start out there this morning. At least I don't have to cycle anywhere first thing today! It's 11°C but "feels like" 6°, and the target for the day is a mere 16°; the barometers are back down a bit at 989/997mB

                      Thursday according to the wireless.

Wet. Very wet. It ain't taking prisoners today.

                      Grey.

                      Sunless.

Meanwhile on the 22nd of January 2020 there was much wailing & gnashing of teeth over the failure to dispose of all the crap in this house, it being electrical waste & thereby banned from skipdom, following which I took a carrier bag on the daily walk & came back with it filled to the brim with cans. This ended a month later with a fecked up leg that still tells me when the weather is changing. . Someone found me a round tuit to gee me up a bit, and DaveB wasn't in a happy mood.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

                      Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: The Bottom line (calm down xogg) waffling on about manufacturing in China.

Sliced Bread: Toast: whatever happened to Freeserve.

Freecell score: 90%, running average: 82%.

More potching in the garden doing "gardening" type things. Stone me, stuff has grown like mad now it's raining again.

Tea: beans on toast with scrambled egg. Dunno what went wrong with the scrambled egg but it was very odd.

                      Entertainment: PM.

Bit of Abandoned Engineering that I've watched previously.
