    Morning all

More blue sky. Currently 7 degrees with a high of 16 expected. Cloud cover set to increase as the day progresses with a slight chance of rain. Barometer up to 1028 mbar.

    Sunrise 06:21; Sunset 19:47 BST

Wasn't feeling very well yesterday and only ate half of the very lovely dinner that HWMBO cooked (venison, mushroom sauce, puntarelle alla romana, jacket spud). Went to bed early. Left overs are in the fridge for lunch.

Scrambled maps today, Buchanan, Liberia, was done in 21 moves on a 5x5 grid. Poor show indeed. It wasn't terribly difficult but I made a mistake and had no twofers. Noticed that Greenland is fully surrounded in green as I've done the one map available there.

Reykjanesbaer, Iceland completes in 0 moves. Now that's a record!

A Pukka steak slice for lunch

Not been too busy so far today, but that'll change. Still, if the plan works (which I gather they seldom do) we should have finished the service migration by 19:30 or so. Potentially later if it goes catastrophically wrong and we have to roll back, though

          We did it!

And we finished over thirty minutes earlier than expected, too

I'm going to order in, because I can't be bothered to start cooking after all that malarkey

Tea has been brought to me from Popeye's Louisiana Chicken. Very nice after a long day

This was accompanied by the next episode of Police: Suspect No. 1 on 5, being the thing about Norfolk CID

Arty farty thing this morning, didn't go to Karaoke this evening, too tired.

Got an email from an acquaintance "Did you get this?" and replied, thinking he might have forgotten an attachment, only to get a return email asking me to buy him a gift card for an ill relative. Damn scammers!

For tonight's reading, I started The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. Our narrator is a youngish civil servant who volunteers for a secret job. It turns out the British government has developed a time machine, and used it to bring people from various points in the past to the present day. Her role is to assist Arctic explorer Commander Graham Gore, hitherto believed to have died on Sir John Franklin's expedition to discover the North West Passage in the ships Erebus and Terror, as he adapts to life in the modern age. It's a clever idea, and entertainingly written

Work should be a bit less stressful now we've got that migration out of the way - though tomorrow, I'll be taking my first steps with the next one, which I'll probably have to do mostly on my own. To make things more interesting, a load of the people who've been on this project since the early days and hold the greater part of the knowledge of how to make things work are being rotated out of the department by their consultancy. So I'll have to fall back on the documentation that I've repeatedly called out over the last couple of months as being wholly inadequate

                Goodnight all

                    Morning denizens

"Partly cloudy" says the weather app. Things are different on the ground, literally, as it's a foggy start! But it'll brighten up before too long, supposedly. It's 3°C now and expected to get to 15° once the putative sun shows up; the barometers are up a touch more at 1017/1026mB

                      Afternoon all

Cloudy with patches of blue. Cloud cover set to dissipate as the remainder of the day progresses. Currently 11 degrees with a high of 15 expected. Barometer up a snifter to 1029 mBar.

                      Sunrise 06:18; Sunset 19:48 BST

Uneventful start to the day. A couple of meetings coming up. Waiting for my HRT prescription to be ready so I can see if that makes a difference to various things.
