Busy morning, at least by my indolent standards

The lift continues to work, so I got the four chairs and the table legs down to the car. This seemed like about as much as it could comfortably manage, mainly because there's still things like a watering can (plastic) and a toolbox (metal, fold-out) full of assorted spanners in the boot, two of the last things retrieved from my parents' garage. So I headed down to the storage place and got those put away.

Coming back, I got my sack truck for the next bits, starting with the drop-leaf table top which is pretty heavy and chunky. With that down there, I decided I also had room for a coffee table which has spent its entire time here leaning against the wall in an out-of-the-way spot. I may end up taking that to the tip, as it's been clumsily repaired here and there by a previous owner, but I have vague thoughts of sanding it down and fixing it properly one day. And there was room for it in storage, so off it went.

With that lot put away, I was able to head on to Big Sainsbury's. I had thought I wouldn't bother this week as I didn't need much, if anything at all. But the new Viz came out yesterday, and one can always pick up some bits and bobs, so I went anyway

With that lot done, I now have additional space in the living room, so this afternoon, I'll see about getting some more stuff sorted out. I could do with putting those new blinds up for a start, there are some bits like floor-standing fans that can go in the storeroom downstairs until it warms up a bit, and I might finally assemble the bookcase intended for DVDs. Then I can sort out the DVDs, which are mostly stacked against the wall where the bookcase is supposed to go

Anyway, time for lunch before I start fretting over that lot

I forgot to mention that I brought one thing back from the storage place: a very small table with a drawer and shelf, just the right height for a bedside thing - in fact, there are two of them with one already here, as my parents each had one next to their favourite seat in their living room. Having popped down to the car to bring that in, my back is raising questions about the idea of doing any more lifting, shifting, and DIYing this afternoon; nothing drastic, just hinting that it might be nice to have a rest for a bit. So I shall postpone the other stuff. None of it is a huge effort anyway, so I can get it done over the weekend (although I probably won't)

The trip down also gave me an opportunity to move the car into its preferred space, which it's been deprived of for nearly three weeks now. My neighbour across the landing, or possibly a friend of his, had parked in it just before I first went out this morning, but they'd gone when I popped down so I grabbed it quick before anybody else gets in there

          Afternoon all

Dull, damp. Raining on and off. Occasional ray of sunshine when the cloud parts. Currently 8 degrees and that's the high for the day. Barometer up to 1024 mbar.

          Sunrise 07:41; Sunset 16:49

This morning I was in ClientCo's office for a meeting, which overran by an hour. HWMBO arrived and I picked him up as that gave me a good excuse to not stay in the office. Now back home and trying to get through my to-do list so I can clock off and invoice with good conscience.

Browsing Amazon looking for something I might fancy watching tonight, I realised that a film I'd been meaning to watch again for a while was going to cease being Free With Prime in a few hours

So today's matinee has been The Last Waltz (1978), Scorsese's film of The Band's farewell concert featuring a panoply of guest stars, interspersed with conversations about their history and so on

No idea when I last saw this but it was many, many years ago

15 moves on 5x5, due to an unforced error on my part

I lost count of the twofers, but probably the same

Tea has been beef and Guinness casserole with chips and peas

I was going to make this in the slow cooker but I got into moving stuff this morning and forgot to make it, so it was made in the InstantPot™ instead. Still turned out very nicely
