Argghhhh. Just came across Oak Island Nutjobs. Exorcism required.

They're on at 21:00 on Blaze, the precis starts at 22:00 or so.

Allegedly they find something this week.

      More wood.

Not sure the SR-71 would have handled Old Warden's grass airstrip very well though. I suspect it would have ended up in the neighbouring fields of Brussels sprouts pretty frequently on both takeoff and landing
There's a time travel story which involves an A12 being transported back to WWI and finding that it's impossible to shoot down the red baron with a 1kt air to air nuke.

I've not read it but it sounds vaguely inneresting.

          Bed has been remade.

New TV PC has been mostly set up. *

Annoyed that the new soundbar turns itself off after 20 minutes if there's no audio passing through it. Normally that would be fine but, when flicking betwixt old and new gear to set things up, it was darn annoying to lose the video feed from the new PC until I relented and put some music on to keep it awake.

Undecided whether to run new PC over wireless or ethernet. I'd like fewer cables but my wireless can be a bit prone to dropping out.

Discovered two Fire HD sticks in range though. Sorely tempted to see if I could connect to them

          * EDIT: except I've yet to redownload all the BBC iPlayer programmes I've not yet watched

Darn it, why is BBC iPlayer not working on my TV? Missed 2nd episode of Silent Witness, Deadhead. Could watch on my PC I suppose but not the same.

The never ending Oak Island nutjob saga:

This week they found a coin, milled edge, in Smith's cove.

Under the slipway they found an iron concretion.

The guy doing the needfuls with the maps did the needful which gave them a location for "shaft 6", so they put one of those big feck off cans down at that spot & started bringing up very large timbers down below 80 feet or so, allegedly made of oak.

Timbers that it takes two people to pick up a 3 or 4 foot length.

They found what might be leather.

They found what might be half a link of chain.

They found a small piece of bone.

And that's it for this week.

The only people making money out of any of this stuff are the facilities companies digging the holes and doing the surveys.

Smith's Cove has been leveled off and that weird ground radar thing has done a scan, finding five locations of innerest, with one very large location of innerest close to the crane pad on the shore. (i.e. the pad they build so the crane could put the coffer dam in place).

They don't have a permit to excavate under the crane pad, presumably the idea is that the coffer dam is removed at the end of the investigation.

Yet another telly-free night, as I again felt rather tired. This might be due in part to the early rising today, and in part to walking to the station, and indeed from the station at the other end. Neither were very long journeys in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still about three miles more than I usually walk on a Sunday morning

More reading of Nevil Shute though, this time No Highway - Wikipedia, which I’ve been meaning to re-read so that I can then watch the film based on it
