Met a friend for dinner at Bob's lobster (we didn't have lobster) by London Bridge station. Wow that area has massively changed. The station is airy and pleasant, well sign posted, lots of nice shops (many units still to be filled). I have been through the tube station and out into borough market several times but never paid much attention to the refurbishment of the station and St Thomas Street, adjacent to the Shard. It's all rather gentrified.Comment

Massacre done for the afternoon.:
Getting the roots of that bush thing out is going to be inneresting.
Picked some blackberries but they were so few and so tulipe that I threw them away.
That's over for the year then.
Something is tulipting in the garden, possibly next door's dog, and maybe a cat or two.
Managed to avoid spearing a nice big fat toad with the garden fork, for which, much thanks.
Now it's sunless and the sky is grey again, with the wind rising.
Which means I've had enough of that endeavour for the afternoon. When the fun stops, STOP.Comment

I think I did a bit too much.
Feeling betterer now after a bit of a rest and a shower.
Today's televisual entertainment on the 10" crt tv was yesterday's "The World at War: Remember".
"The World at War" Remember (TV Episode 1974) - IMDb
Tea this evening was some chili con carne with rice.
It was ferociously hot (by my standards) which probably means it didn't get stirred properly when I made it a month ago.
After last week's chili con carne ice, I nuked if for a bit longer this time.
Followed by some stewed blackberries and custard, which was nice enough if somewhat on the pippy side.
Concluded with 1.05 of Good Glengettie Tea.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment

Televisual excitement continued with "War Factories" about American shipbuilding, which was interesting enough.
Followed by "Rambo III (1988)" with that Sly Stallone chap.
Rambo III (1988) - IMDb
It was ridiculous enough..
Now watching the thing on BBC4 about the Krauts running on crystal meth (Pervitin) during the last major unpleasantness.
"World War Speed: the drugs that won WWII".
I wonder if benzedrine will get a mention.
Yup.
Sounds like the tank crews were high as a kite in the desert war.
And the slimming pills in the 50s.
And JFK though no mention of Doctor Feelgood.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; 29 August 2019, 20:59.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment
