Spray liberally over the distributor cap.

Sometimes it needs it inside the cap too.

The Lizard 1997 Corolla has ignition problems of some kind, but it doesn't have a distributor cap or, indeed, a distributor.

    It's got 2 coils instead.
The "if it doesn't move and should, apply WD40" rule

I came across a YouTube video a while back showing how to replace an ignition coil on a Corolla of that sort of vintage (roughly the same as mine). I encountered it when mine was having troubles that turned out to be the MAF sensor.

Ah, here it is: 2000 onwards model, but it's probably not much different.

A couple of days ago, today was forecast to be rainy, but it's a sunny start, with only a marginal chance of showers this afternoon

Thanks for that, but it's a 1997, 1300cc pre VVT engine, 4FE, which may be a bit different.

IIRC the 1600 version still had a distributor.

Just wasted 45mins with O2 chat earlier. In the end I phoned them up while on the chat and the issue was understood by a Brit within 5 minutes.
