The lot of a Yorkshireman in London is not a happy one. £6 for a beer (of highly dubious quality) and a bag of cheese and onion makes I sad.

Been there done that. Think the last pint I had there (was a very, very nice Hastings Porter though) cost £7.50 or so.

Eat mackerel. It's good for you, it's full of HDL, it's British, and grilled with a bit of home made pesto, it's part of a nice meal.
I think the general lack of pork related items might put him off. Mackerel wrapped in bacon?
I ought to eat more oily fish, and this bacon-wrapping concept sounds like a step in the right direction

I really wouldn't mind if it was any good!

I can't remember Barrydidit's viewpoint of Samuel Smith Pubs.

If he doesn't mind them I prefer The crown on New Oxford Street.

Sam Smith's: better bottled in ones home than in their own establishments...

Gonna head to the John betjamin (sp?) at pancras till its train time.

Not a bad option. The Parcel Yard in Kings Cross is actually quite decent as well - decent selection of beers although I don't know enough about Fuller's range to know which are theirs and which belong to others.
