It seems the canteen doesn't open till 8. By 'open' they seem to mean 'starting to put stuff out'. I bet those poached eggs are sitting though in the back going all hard whilst he's pissing about with the same quorn sausages he's gonna be scooping into a black bag in 2 hours time.
