    Another one

I have received the 2009/10 letter yesterday and I emailed Michelle Booth at the Edge email address, but it got bounced. So, can I use the same template that was provided for 2008/09?
It is better to pool the resources and be ready for any eventuality. So, please count me in and I shall contribute towards any approach that we plan to take collectively.
And Admin, can you please provide the PM rights?

I understand that all contractors who received loans from EBT's are being investigated, but all the EBT providers structured their products slightly differently - so am I right in thinking that even if one provider were to win or loose; Edge users will still have to defend their structure?

IMO, the HMRC Vs Rangers case is not a good test case to 'wait and see' - as it is significantly different to Edges case. In this case, HMRC have taken the club (Edge) to court over their payments...not the players (us) - AND it is not the same as Edge's EBT structure anyway. However, if HMRC were to loose the UTT then it may deter them from having to swallow more potential legal costs in other cases lost against EBTs.

I guess a better example will come up when HMRC decide on who the first EBT provider which is more similar to Edge.

The group representation is a great initiative. Do we have any update on how many of us have signed up? Also, have any tax specialists given any initial thoughts on our sitution and chances?

One small point - that isn't going to happen. HMRC have deep pockets and are required to uphold their interpretation of the law.

And yes, each EBT is different. What works for one case almost certainly won't influence another; the status of EBT's - if correctly set up - isn't in dispute, who is allowed to use them is.
          Blog? What blog...?

You need to appeal as an individual 30 days within you receive the letter.

FTFY as while HMRC probably would like to use your rules (ideally insisting on the exact second, minute and hour of your appeal being submitted) the rules are not that strict...
