Seriously, some of you are getting too wound up about this. The dickhead cyclists act like dickheads because they're stressed out from sitting in stressy traffic with other stressy people who all act like dickheads, but are probably mostly quite reasonable and friendly people when they're not on the road. By getting all stressed and angry you're just adding to the general bad mood, which just makes things worse. Calm down and don't lower yourself to their level.

I cycle commute all year round from east to central london. This is silly season, do not get sucked in - our fair weathered cyclists will be gone by the first cold snap, Even with the overnight rain the roads were quieter this morning. For me the main point that helps me whatever vehicle you are in - eye contact.

Just remind yourself that everyone is human, 99% of us are stupid so we have to help them out by communicating/signalling and not going for the last 100m down the Champs-Élysées. You can tell by the bike and clothing the type of cyclist and therefore anticipate their tw@ttish behaviour.

I have called a few for cutting me up, undertaking and pulling out on me almost daily in the last month. Doesnt take much to get a jibberring apology out of them

I went swimming this morning. There was lane etiquette anger in the pool too. Some dangerous overtaking into oncoming traffic.

At least the weather is better for it this year. Last year was high windows and torrential downpours. My Dad saw one person going off in the same wave as me doing breastsroke, being pushed backwards!

When a cyclist wants you to kill them by how they ride how can you stay calm?

The same way you stay calm whenever anything in life is irritating?

I'm actually going to end up seriously injurying someone in wet weather who cycles out or walks out on me without looking.

It's possible. However you should be noting any junction or side-road/path as you approach and keeping an eye on it just in case. Doesn't mean you can guarantee to stop but better odds than finding a bike appears while you're thinking about your shopping list
Being a good driver is hard work, because it requires you to concentrate all the time even when nothing is happening!

Oh and I'm one of those annoying drivers who will drive exactly at the speed limit on roads where I know there are plenty of these idiots.

Why is it annoying you drive at the maximum speed allowed when you know people are likely to be doing silly things? Do you mean annoying to the cyclists that even though you're aware of the risk you still drive too fast?

I finally lost it this morning. I went absolutely ape tulip at yet another dumb ass that insisted on diving down the inside of me despite me having my left indicators on and being 100 yards or more in front of him. I pointed out that he was going to need more than a trendy ******* helmet to protect him if he carried on the way he was going...

It's the plastic hat that does it, you know. Each and every winker on a kiddy toy in the wrong place or doing the wrong thing and expecting me to miss them regardless is wearing one. I genuinely don't ever remember being inconvenienced by someone not wearing one.

In fact I claim Malvolio's First Law of Cycling - the idiocy of the rider is directly proportional to the amount of plastic they are wearing.

If you are a cyclist who looks like they know what they are doing regardless of age and gender, then a bit of eye contact especially if you want to turn right will ensure I give you lots of room to do your manoeuvre.

Likewise if someone at a zebra crossing or in busy traffic at certain junctions gives me eye contact it's easier to work out they are going to walk across the road.

Unfortunately some people think it's OK to wait at the edge of a zebra crossing with no intention of crossing the road or at busy junctions with no crossing will just walk straight out in front of traffic.

I walk and cycle most of the same urban roads I drive, and know when pedestrians and cyclists are just being plain stupid.

On the flip side it also means I know when a car driver let alone a larger vehicle cannot see you at certain points due to poor road layout and/or shrubbery.
