To side-track a bit, does anyone know if any major world religions don't GAS about sexuality? I'm under the impression that Islam and Judaism are in roughly the same boat as the traditional Christian view but I could be wrong... and what about Buddhism, Sikhism, etc?

To the best of my knowledge all religions oppose it in one way or another. Obviously you have the modern reformists but the religions don't condone it.

You don't think it's a tiny bit arrogant to tell a religion you know what their holy book means better than they do?

I suggest you have a religious discussion with more than one Church of England Vicar and if you are lucky you may be able to have a discussion with a Rabbi, Imam or another religions' religious scholar. They don't tend to take their Holy Book(s) literally.

By "traditional" Christian view I presume you mean Catholicism? All the other Christian denominations are young in comparison.

Don't Islam, Christianity and Judaism all have roots in the OT? That would explain their similar outlook upon things mentioned there.

Not sure on Buddism or Sikhism, although I do know that if you are rioting you had better stay away from Sikh temples.

That seems a pretty apathetic and rather depressing way to live. Put yourself in your little box, don't give a damn about anything or anyone else. We should accept school shootings, paedophiles and so on to avoid "being unhappy"? Isn't it a good thing if things make you unhappy so that you want to do something about it?

Not a sin in Hinduism, Buddhism says you mustn't be attached to sex, nor crave it, so it's not either for or against it, Sikhs promote equality, and have nothing written down against it, Quakers, Episcopalians, the Metropolitan Community Church, the United Church of Christ, the United Church of Canada, Reform and Conservative Jews, Wiccans, Druids, Unitarian Universalists and Native American all support it (wiki).
