I know you're joking but no real need to be a nob when someone's kids are involved. Best ever solution to this sort of crap I have seen was an advert taken out in the careers pages of the guardian inviting people to tender for the position of replacement PA for an evil witch at a well known Oxford street store. It was cutting and well written and included the manageress direct line and the request to ask for the embittered and withered old bag that runs X
Was by far the best laugh I had that week and it must have really hurt the b!tch that it was directed at at a point when she could no longer do anything more to the victim.
In your shoes I would have already found a way to tear the cow a new one. Posting everything from Garage doors to her home to 5 tonne of cement on her drive way. I don't tollerate bullies of any kind, and once a manager has crossed the line and made it clear that the gloves are off then they are off and its more than easy to spend some time getting vindictive enough to distract them at work...Comment

Happened to me when I was a senior (permie) manager. My boss and his boss attempted to force me to resign because the uber-boss didn't like me. What your son must do is a) consider his career at that place is over b) plot his exit strategy.
So - go to doctor, get time off work for stress. (The symptoms are trouble sleeping, inability to make every day decisions, feelings of anxiety ). Take notes of everything that the witch does. When a good dossier has been built up, talk to HR. If things don't improve - quit and then sue for constructive dismissal. If the company has sense, they'll settle. If they don't, they'll lose and pay a fortune.
I was working in a country with far few employer protection laws than the UK, and I still managed a decent payoff. (And then went contracting). Having been a manager in the UK as well, I know how incredibly difficult and expensive it is to get rid of anyone. Most employers rely on the employee not knowing their rights.Down with racism.
