I had a couple of managers gang up on me and give me a dressing down because they needed a scape goat and my computer happened to have a hard drive failure that week. It was very much just a series of unfair accusations from people less qualified than I was to do their jobs. Anyway, being bullied causes depression - that makes it difficult to do anything about it and affects your home life. I saw an interesting TED talk about how to deal with problems and it turns out that talking about them doesn't help you deal with the psychological stress - writing them down does, so my advice would be to keep a diary. Write down what points were made and why they were unfair. I also felt a lot more secure when I bought a dictaphone in case it ever happened again.
There's nothing you can do to protect against the first ambush, but recovering from the ropes and preparing for the next one has to be the priority. Once there's been two incidents, I'd say that's the time to go on the offensive and complain to HR - keep the response proportional. If she's made accusations that aren't fair, state that and why. If she's made stuff up, make stuff up back! If he has a strong history with the firm and she doesn't, his word may even hold more water.

That's not how it works. Starting a topic on CUK invites ridicule as well as (hopefully) some sensible answers. If children and parenting are off-limits what else? Pets? Religion? Divorces?

            water off a ducks back

last year in an escalation, a senior Manager where I am said to me, "we've got a problem, you're crap", to which I immediately answered in a split second, "you knew that when you hired me"

I take ownership of my successes and failures.

You seem very proud of your approach there. Well done!

WHS. Attacking the poster is fine. But family is out of order unless his son is bullied by a little girl, his daughter gives blowjobs behind the bike sheds for a cigarette, the wife is so ugly she has to wear two industrial sack clothes over her face and the OPs dog is gay.

I think Bolshie and brood is fair game then.

I will bear the above in mind when you post stuff about your family in future.
