I'll have to modify my online behaviour accordingly!

I think the idea of a newbie's room is a good one.

And maybe 'General' could be split into 'coffee lounge' and 'bear pit'

This doesn't lend well to a public/social community board. Just cause we contract doesn't mean we do the same job or have similar interests or anything. I don't really care who or what someone is, I will find out as they start to post interesting and factual content.

The fact people are using this as a social forum and not putting any effort in to the actual content this board is for is one of the reasons it has gone belly up recently IMO.
Can't it cater for both? Forums with no social side usually die pretty quickly.

        General should be called General!

I think that General needs to be lowered in the list - as its at the top of the fora list newbies are more likely to wander in rather than looking in the other sections .

What about a section where we can post nude self-pics?

Or was that another forum I was thinking about ... ?

              I would agree with that.

Is it at all possible that people get automatically directed to a newbie faq when first registering?

To be honest I am not interested in reading the other forums ( maybe technical sometimes ) , I have been contracting for years so know the ropes and it comes as no surprise to me that the market is crap.

I would keep it just the way it is, I don't think it is broken, maybe lower general down the display order so new people don't walk straight into the general bun fight, I like the robust nature of here. I really just come on to wind AtW up. I would allow more threads from LR to be on general, except the really crap stuff like TPD which I am just not intersted in.

Trying to get General to stick to it's current remit is a lost cause, just treat it as a general forum with a warning on the door that it is likely to contain flames, arguments, foot stamping and general bolshiness; and that it's not for those of a delicate disposition or first time posters.

The beginners area is a nice idea, not sure we need it filled with "Hi there I'm new" posts but putting all the FAQ's and other info in there and clearly marking it as such would be good. Call it "Read This First" and sticky it at the top of the forums list on the main page.

An intro to CUK and etiquette / posting guidlines sticky would also be good.

Everything else pretty much works as is, imesho.

And can we have TPD back please?

It can but as I said there are too many using it for social only and not putting any effort in to the advice sections. I also have to question how you would call some of the moron posts we get as being social for people to join in as well and not feed the click but saying that I havn't a clue how to fix that.

There are some people on here that are best to be confined to General only.
