Tell me when they make one and then I’ll buy an i-pad.Originally posted by voodooflux View PostI don't think there's an app for that. Yet.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Wish granted!Originally posted by Pondlife View PostI'm hoping that they'll bring out a smaller pocket size version soon.
Now that would be cool.

Next from Apple: The Pocket iPad

Now all we need is a simpler one without the need for a phone contract.Comment

Oh I can see that's what apple has released, problem is not much need for an "oversized itouch/iphone" consumer electronic device.Originally posted by Churchill View PostWith respect I think you're confusing the iPad with a general purpose computing device. It isn't, it is a piece of consumer electronics.
What is needed is something that can do all the routine tasks that a person does everyday, cruise web (with full web capability, like flash), email, write notes, watch programs, video conference, read electronic newspapers/books so forth and most importantly to be able to do more than one at a time (key killer in the IPod) in a nice, portable, simple to use device with a good screen.
Apple did well with Ipod/Iphone because they looked at market with fresh eyes and started from scratch, now they seem locked into the "I-everything" mentality and are trying to make the devices fit into that mould instead building stuff that matches the actual needs of consumers
Now the company that comes up with a device that does what I described above on a workable, decent piece of kit truly will change the market, ipad is just an overhyped non eventComment

Does it come with Windows 7 ?
Can it seamlessly replace my PC and all my Apps, with exactly the same ones I use on my PC ?
No ?
Pointless then.Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

v1 of any Apple device is always feature limited. Then what happens is fanbois hack it to do what they want and consumers buy it because it's easy and they think it might work for them.Originally posted by Not So Wise View PostOh I can see that's what apple has released, problem is not much need for an "oversized itouch/iphone" consumer electronic device.

v2(or 3 or 4) of the software often brings the things the fanbois scream for when the product first comes out - I would be surprised if multitasking isn't included in future upgrades.
HP are releasing a slate pc, as are MS in the future so your needs will be met. It'll be running windows though, so it won't be easy and it's made by HP so it will probably break - pay your money and take your choice..."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. Fortunately for apple, the consumer electronics market isn't mad up of BGG clones
