      With iWork.

Viewable document types: .jpg, .tiff, .gif (images); .doc and .docx (Microsoft Word); .htm and .html (web pages); .key (Keynote); .numbers (Numbers); .pages (Pages); .pdf (Preview and Adobe Acrobat); .ppt and .pptx (Microsoft PowerPoint); .txt (text); .rtf (rich text format); .vcf (contact information); .xls and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel)
Perhaps it'll persuade folks to check that MS Office docs that they send out render properly in iWork. That would be a huge improvement here

I'm hoping that they'll bring out a smaller pocket size version soon.

          Now that would be cool.

According to this, it doesn't have a camera or webcam. It doesn't run flash. No USB ports. No card reader. Only 64GB. Can't have two active apps (except for apple ones).

It'll sell well, because the target consumer has no technical understanding, because it looks pretty, and because it doesn't run windows (for the microsoft hates) or linux (for the technophobes).

As with the iPhone, a triumph of marketing.

That fact alone is a blessing. The sooner Flash is killed by HTML5, the better.

Great idea, even better if it was also a phone.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

i'd prefer something just a bit more simple without all the fandangled touch screen technology and simply the ability to play music and video but with enough storage space it can hold the 100+Gb of movies/music I have.

That's a bit like saying you wouldn't mind having a motorbike if only it could carry the three filing cabinets from your office.
