lot of tosh here from people who I suspect haven't actually been to the Arctic or the southern hemisphere for a while.

snow in south africa is all well and good, but whats driving the weather conditions, how does wind work - why does it all have to be about temperature, global warming is an overall warming, not a "its cold in the UK and SA 1 year out of 8, so its no problem, wheres my range rover I need to go and buy 4 exterior heaters so I can sit on my patio and drink my kenco)

Go outside of the temperate zone and say there isnt a problem.

Having "within the context of climate change" appended to the title of an application for research funds is the only way to get funding. If it doesn't mention it, it doesn't get funded.

Let's go back to basics.

Good idea. The theory is simple - the increasing CO2 (and other gases) chucked out has a feedback mechanism that leads to higher temperatures.

So why not do a simple experiment to test this:

This isn't looking out of the window seeing snow, current cooling is not in doubt, and is based on scientific measurement:

The question is, is it a "bump" or a new trend.

But has the amount of CO2 released in the industrial age through fossil fuel usage made any significant warming above that which is natural warming?

The answer ranges from a little to none.

There is definately no proof of an imminent global 6 deg c rise or any hockey stick change.

So why the big fuss, the Carbon taxes and the Carbon trading and the Carbon levies?

Because people such as Al Gore and governments like Gordon's get rich on it.
