Now you are missing the point here.
If we had a heatwave in Dember, half the ice disappeared from alps and the North Pole was navigable, you would have been crowing for Britain, and you know it.

Britain after 30 years of global warming

Let's go back to basics.

1.

The fundamental premise is this. Greenhouse gases (the focus is on CO2 but there are other more potent greenhouse gases) trap heat on the planet and lead to a rapid warming of the globe.

2.

There has always been a gradual warming of the earth in recent times, but the scary bit was the hockey stick, a rapid warming shown in the 1990's that was predicted to continue. This "hockey stick" upturn coincided with ever increasing amounts of C02 from fossil fuels.



Now, this is all well and good and could be true, but some "inconvenient truths" are appearing.

1.

The hockey stick rise in temperature didn't happen. Now some 10+ years after the event, the Earth didn't heat up rapidly, it cooled and the overall rise is consistent with the natural drift in global temps.

2.

The government funded, hand picked scientists have been caught with their hands on the data, selectively taking data sets that fit the cause and manipulating data to emphasise any warming.



I think you'd have to be a very foolish person to still believe the hype of global catastrophe now. The governments grubby hands are all over this one too.

2.b More than this governments hand picked scientists have been caught tampering with the data. IIRC the Russians were caught first, copying summer temperatures to winter for Siberia.

I wonder if there is any mileage in this idea -

The government set the tone for the country (Tone being the operative word here) and we have been going through a hockey stick of national borrowing, spin deceit and 'the end justifies the means' type of philosophy

It's ok to lie about global warming, or Sadaam, as long as people insulate, switch off something, drive smaller cars, and agree to hang the b@stard

Which is very easy to do now that being "Green" is fashionable.

I've yet to see any convincing science to prove AGW exists and I seriously doubt that climate change is the result of anything other than normal variations.

It's not like the Earth hasn't been both significantly warmer and colder than it is now as a result of the way the planet works.
