Have you considered the possibility that there may be some correlation between the amount of work done and the number of turds in the trench? IS there any evidence of toilet facilities being in place for those working in it or are they having to "improvise"?

Vacuum cleaner the size of a truck on the go at 7:30.

Well, it is a truck. A bit like a cement mixer, but huge vacuum cleaner on the back.

And a 10 metre long hose thingy. They are using it to remove dug out rubble from a narrow alley.

Very noisy, and emits a loud trump lasting several seconds when they turn the vacuum off.
