As someone who has done Slimfast before my advice to you is DON'T!! Seriously you will feel like utter cr*p ... because it is:
(a) full of cr*p
and
(b) doesn't have enough carbs for your body to function properly - hence your kidneys don't get rid of the toxins
You have a constant headache and kidney pain. It is VILE!!
Also, if you body is like mine, you lose shed loads of weight in the first 10 days then your body decides it is starving and clings on to whatever reserves it has and you are depriving yourself for no loss!! Also when it comes to pigging out at Christmas your body is so used to surviving on a tiny amount of calories that it decides that it's getting this bumper load so it will store them for when the calories stop coming again!!
Have a think about something like weight watchers - you can get the points tracker and a spreadsheet to do it with for a few quid off ebay. You will easy lose it in the time you've got and still be able to have the odd beer and wispa!! I've just started it again to try to shift my "baby weight" (yeah right, she is 2 years old - "beer and curry weight" might be a more valid description) and in 3 weeks I've lost 5 and a half pounds - and I've had drinks and curry every weekend! your allowance is based around a set of criteria and it reduces as you lose weight so in theory you don't plateau.
I would also say to you that if you are happy and healthy how you are and your bloke is happy with you then f**k what everyone else thinks, it's your day FFS!!
Also I lost a stone in the 2 weeks before my wedding just from never having time to actually eat anything and worrying about stuff!!
Ok, some good advice here but no solution. I have the answer for you. It's called - 'Stay on the line', from some propellor head. Here is the deal:
- Draw a graph with your current weight up the side, time in days across the bottom. draw a descending line from current weight dropping by 1lb a week.
- Every day, weigh yourself and mark it on the graph. Ignore any variation from hydration etc etc, just mark the weight on the graph.
- IF you are below the line, don't go mad but feel free to have a Wispa with lunch etc remember - STAY ON THE LINE, don't try to beat it.
- IF you are above the line, make a slight modification, use the stairs when you have a choice, skip a bar of chocolate, choose a different snack.
Either way - Don't beat yourself up, just use it a a gentle guide and reminder during the day
It's not about making your life unbearable, which you won't stick to anyway OR trying to starve yourself (it won't work). Stay on the line, make only minor adjustments, use Slimfast to help but don't feel guilty !!
GOOD LUCK.
This works - just try not to be too aggressive with the line.
"See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."
It's all about your Basal Metabolic Rate (which defines the amount of calories your body will use if you do nothing all day - like sleep).
You then adjust this for the amount of exercise you do (including walking up stairs etc).
you then count your calories to be just under this. If you go too much under your body goes into stavation mode and stores everything - so just under is the key.
This gives you gradual weight loss and your metabolic rate adjusts properly meaning it is sustainable.
