    Influenced by Government

I see government's role as managing national interests, ensuring the provision of essential affordable pubic services, etc.

So am I alone in not wanting to be influenced by Government?

I'd rather have government influenced by the electorate - but that doesn't seem to be the way of things.

Back in the day we had public information campaigns with government commissioning films, adverts and posters to get various messages across. Influencers are just the modern equivalent.

The government needs to engage with the public, you might need a new paper advert or a party political broadcast on the wireless, young people today need to be engaged in a way that is engaging to them.

If you don't understand why influencers are used, you are not the ones they are trying to influence.

Indeed. I was half listening to someone on the wireless this very day talking about the Death of Print and Reading.

I understand the point about why influencers may be necessary. Now all we have to do is work out which ones are useful and which are vacuous, ill-informed or plain ignorant wannabes...

Sadly I get the impression that the latter are in the majority. We seem to be moving to a world where we are outsourcing critical assessment.

There are actually influencers who we all know but don't see as such because they crossed over e.g. Gordon Ramsay, Joe Wicks, Emma Watson

The modern world is all about what to think and not how to think. Influencing is important to enforce the sh*te our superiors wish to infuse our minds with.
