72% of Turkeys vote for Hamas

    https://www.reuters.com/world/middle...es-2023-12-14/

Seventy-two percent of respondents said they believed the Hamas decision to launch the cross-border rampage in southern Israel was "correct" given its outcome so far, while 22% said it was "incorrect". The remainder were undecided or gave no answer.

Hamas, which is sworn to Israel's destruction, has ruled Gaza since splitting with the Palestinian Authority (PA) in 2007. The PA exercises limited governance in the West Bank.

Even if Israel succeeds in largely wiping out Hamas, this war will probably create a whole new wave of terrorists hell bent on revenge. So many in Gaza will have lost family, friends, loved ones.

sadly true but if we start reporting the truth maybe it will help.

Al Jazeera is called Al Jihadi in my house.

Israel is surrounded by fanatics that want to kill them, not sure what they can do.

Unfortunately, since Hamas took power 18 years ago, they've pushed their antisemitic/antiwest/antifreedom/pro-violence ideology into Gazan schools. So it's not surprising that a majority are in favour of raping, killing and torturing Jews, regardless of age. Or if they're Thai and not Jewish (for example).
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

To be better informed of what's right or wrong you need to read the history of the region and it's bloody complex. Granted ancient history isn't that relevant but will give the reader a better view of the situation rather than a simplistic who's right or wrong as a casual observer over the space of a few years. I don't profess to even have a clue but from the reading I've done it's a horribly complex problem that was never going to get sorted and conflict will just prevail forever. Could be the case of doing the right thing the wrong way after decades of non resolution or something else, who knows. I don't have a clue so stay out of any discussions on right or wrong but I'll bet a vast majority of people that vote in these things really don't have an idea of exactly what is going on and are taking it on face value, which you simply can't. A bunch of activists and casual outraged observers doesn't make for the right answer to a poll.

Was there a time when Palestinians didn't hate Israelis (and vice-versa)? They seem to have been at each other since as far back as I can remember (1970s).

Probably little hope of this changing for many more decades.

the name Jew comes from Judah in 2nd century BCE.

              Judah an area around Jerusalem.

Judah was renamed Palestine by the romans to upset the jews about 130 ad.

Sounds a bit like a prior claim to me.

Most Palestinians are Egyptian refugees. Though some may have had relatives in the ottoman empire when they subjugated the jews about 400 ad.

The Gaza strip could have been self governing since 2005, the Israelis had moved out completely to permit it. Hamas just continued to lob rockets at Israel and moan that they were occupied.

The west bank (of Jordan) and Qatar is filled with the Hamas leadership they don't suffer with the plebs.

its a lot messed up, Israel has made a number of offers to help peace.

Hamas have 100 plus hostages that they haven't killed yet (they have probably gang raped them already) and won't hand them back. they are armed and are still lobbing missiles at civilian targets daily.

Maybe if we supplied the Palestinians with more sophisticated weaponry they could be more selective in their targetting. Level the playing field so to speak.

The bottom line is we sold out the ground (which we gained from giving the Ottoman Empire a smartening) from under the occupants of the region to garner Jewish support in the "Great War". Yes there were Jews buying up land in the region but without the Balfour Declaration there wouldn't be a State of Israel and it certainly wouldn'ty be where it is if there was one.

Although the Balfour Declaration stated “nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine”, the British mandate was set up in a way to equip Jews with the tools to establish self-rule, at the expense of the Palestinian Arabs.

Well the Jews bought territory at horrendous markup from the Arabs who were put in place by the ottomans. It was their land in the first place.

Lets see in the last 18 years one has turned the desert into a Paradise the other turned it into a battleground.
