Is this why many people dislike unions?

Mick Lynch's RMT union fails to back TUC motion condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine as firefighters' union votes against as it blasts 'imperialist interests' arming Ukraine's 'far-right'

    Nope.

People don't like unions because they don't believe in collective bargaining. They think they individually can get a higher wage without it and better conditions for themselves from their bosses.

An odd perspective after Putin invaded first the Crimea and the the Ukraine. He has actively attacked residential areas and nuclear power plants. I suppose we need to try appeasement?

Well it worked so well the last time it was tried in 1938.

Anyone got a piece of paper handy?

How come the Russian colonialists are ok then when the rest are so evil?

Partly. They're supposed to be representing the members, not pontificating on unrelated political issues. But like most organisations, they end up acting in the organisation's best interest, not the members'.

Like the union that tried to insist that pilots have seperate transport from the cabin crew, to and from the aircraft. It wasn't about the members' interests, it was about the union showing it's power.

              Concerning Putin...

              From Reuters. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe...ke-2023-09-12/

"It was a mistake," Putin said when asked about perceptions of Russia as a colonial power due to Moscow's decision to send tanks into Budapest in 1956 and into Prague in 1968.

"It is not right to do anything in foreign policy that harms the interests of other peoples," said Putin, who in 2022 sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine, triggering the biggest land war in Europe since World War Two.

I listened to Putin's speech before the invasion, I was gobsmacked at his narrative that he was going to rescue Ukraine from the nazis. His narrative changed as the war did not go to plan. However, India, Iran and most of Africa are openly backing Russia and this is also blatant propaganda in the foreign media. Their narrative is that Ukraine attacked Russia backed by Israel. The UK and the West is taking a long time to wake up to the fact that it's old friends in the Commonwealth are now it's enemies. Just look at the way the PM was shunned by India at the G20.

I think its more complicated than that.

Its very sad, so many people could be brought out of poverty but they choose not to.

Many are using anti British sentiment to cover the fact that their countries are still failing just as badly as when they became part of the Empire. Despite their colonial infrastructure and 50+ years of independence they are divided and hateful. India, Australia, New Zealand and others have shown its possible to rise well above being an ex colony.

The African leaders were backing Mugabe when the UK tried to stop the madness that was killing many Zimbabweans of all colours.

India is so competitive, they like us individually they just want to beat us. If we are stupid enough to give them aid that they embezzle then or assistance that they abuse so be it is their attitude.

Many Muslims just want to hate Israel.
