But the 'Welcome' pictures were painted with taxpayer money in the first place weren't they?

No that the majority of those challenged were lying (66%) is not disputed by anyone. The methods to identify children are not absolute so it could be 100% were lying (prove me wrong). As above there is a reason for them to lie, especially if they are older, they have a much better chance of staying. Even the most liberal of commentators say it is proven 20% of 'children' are liars.

For me checking all illegal migrants age if they claim to be children is a sensible step. We are still Defending people who have a provably high likelihood of lying seems to be an odd approach from an intelligent man like you.

Remember these people have crossed intolerant war torn countries like Germany & France to escape a war zone like Calais to cross the channel in improvised dinghies, a bit of lying is hardly going to bother them. They can suddenly discover they are gay after fathering 3 kids if it helps their case.

They and their descendants are statistically more likely to be involved in crime & terrorism.

I would suggest you would find most Brits are happy to accept actual asylum seekers, though the percentage probably goes down dramatically if the seekers have crossed multiple safe countries and look more like economic migrants.

I'm not happy the majority were Albanian & Indian neither of which are refugees.

Schools were built with taxpayers money but we can't "afford" to maintain them. Yet we can "afford" to paint over pointless pictures instead of leaving them to wear away.

How do you know what their individual claims are?

Btw I think Bliar's government tried to claim certain countries were safe but it was proved otherwise. (And we had the privilege of paying for it...)

I wonder if this is where the 60% came from..

The report, published in March by the Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, cited data indicating that from the start of July 2016 to the end of June 2017, the Home Office had raised 705 age disputes.

Of the 618 resolved, 402 (65%) claimants were found to be over 18 and 216 (35%) were found to be children.
So 60% is correct but only if you quote the timescale of the analysis.

Could be. But Vetran is arguing from his strongly held belief that the majority of migrants who say they're children* are lying, and then trying to find data (and specious arguments) to uphold that belief. You can't shift a True Believer using logic and facts.

It costs tens of thousands of pounds per refugee/whatever and a few hundred quid to paint a wall. So, entirely inconsequential.
Interestingly, you aren't complaining about the far higher cost of doing this artwork in the first place.

I don't have any details on when the existing art work was placed in the centre and who paid for it.

Oddly the majority of refugees over the last decade have been young males. Compared to the normal makeup that is unusual.

20% overall were lying, 66% of those challenged were lying.
